Sign-ups for the Jeeves & Wooster gift exchange are now open! As I've said before here, this is a fanworks gift exchange, in which participants will make fanworks (fic, art, gifs, etc.) for each other. You won't find out who you were matched with until the gifts are posted. Everyone is welcome to sign up, regardless of skill level. If you're only familiar with the Fry & Laurie series or the books but not both, that's fine too!

You can find out more from the announcement post on Tumblr here, or if you'd like you can go straight to the sign-up form here.

Sign-ups will be open through March 31st, and then assignments will be emailed out on April 2nd. Participants will post their gifts on Tumblr anytime between May 5th to 7th. Please let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hi again! I'm happy to report that I'm going forward with the fanworks exchange idea, and I've set up a Tumblr blog for it, right here. I will try to keep people updated here though I will probably post more announcements there. Please follow the blog if you're interested in the exchange! Also, I would really appreciate any help spreading the word there! :)

The lovely Finmagik gave me maintainer/moderator rights on the Wodehouse Kink Meme - OhIDoSay - and I know there hasn't been a lot of activity there lately, but I was thinking maybe folks just needed to be reminded about it. Possibly due to the inactivity, people gave up - understandable - but I'd like to suggest folks toddle over and take a gander at the prompts unfilled thus far, see if they spark your Muses.

[livejournal.com profile] rathanylakan had started a filled post and was doing beautifully, but stopped when someone else started tracking the fills, I believe. However, that was on the community [livejournal.com profile] toodlepipsigner started up for fills to posted - OhYouDoSayDoYou, but that's not the Kink Meme, so it would still be a useful thing to have if we get more traffic on the Kink Meme.

So, if you've never been there, do have a look; if you have been there and got discouraged, have another look; and if you see anything that a maintainer/moderator can do to spiff the place up, let me know and I'll try.

POTENTIAL IDEAS (offer a comment if you have one):

[] Maybe a poll to see if there's any interest?

[] Post a brand new Prompt Post, though certainly allow for the previous unfilled prompts to be filled.

[] Update the Filled Prompts list.

[] Update the Unfilled Prompts list.

We interrupt this broadcast of Jeeves and the (putative) Scorpions for an announcement

Fan_flashworks is a themed challenge community for all fanworks and fandoms on Dreamwidth and Livejournal. Come and check us out!

Fan Flashworks accepts work in any medium (including fingernail painting, baking, and knitting) and any fandom as well as 'crosspollination' (think 'weekly drabbles'?).

And you can earn swell badges to post on your LJ or Dreamwidth accounts.

Mention me, or[livejournal.com profile] storyfan, (and sorry if I missed other Joosterites--tell me and I'll add you here) in your first post to [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks and we earn free toaster badges (I will donate any toasters to IndeedSir to save Jeeves work in the kitchen).

...and now back to our regularly scheduled scorpion.

[community profile] unconventionalcourtship is a panfandom challenge based on Dreamwidth that aims to produce fics longer than 1,000 words based on a Mills & Boon/Harlequin novel summary.

All fandoms and pairings are allowed.

This fest runs from March 15th to April 14th 2013.

Be still my beating heart, this exists.

Is anybody here planning on going to this? I was going to wait until it got closer to convention time to bring it up here, but pre-registration ends on the 16th of June. I was just wondering if there was any interest in an IndeedSir meet-up of any kind. :)

Given that our comm has a set of bookmarks there, I thought this was important info. [livejournal.com profile] seticat has the info here:

We might want to make sure everything on this list is tagged in the comm.

Well dash it all it's been bally long enough, hasn't it?

I've finally, with some off-time, accomplished this: the kink meme filler community.
[livejournal.com profile] ohyoudosaydoyou  is open for business. What's more, it's easy to remember! Cut the red tape.

If for some reason its existence offends someone somewhere along the line for any reason, contact the mod (that's me!) for questions/ comments/ concerns.

The way it works is as follows:
If you want to keep track of the fillers on [livejournal.com profile] ohidosay , but don't want to track comments and weed out the prompts (and be spammed to high-hell), feel free to join. If you want your own ficcage to be more easily accessible, feel free to join.
If you're content with the way things are, feel free to *not* join.

If you yourself want to post on the community, you must be a member. Since there is no "anonymous" posting option, you may either contact me, and I'll post anonymously for you regardless of the subject matter, or you may have a comfortable lj-friend (anyone you trust reading your stuff) or a beta post for you, although they (and I) must not take credit, and must be tagged under "anonymous post".

All other rules and terms of compliance may be found at the community page. There aren't many, but one must have a fair red flag, what?

I've also compiled two masterlists, one of Filled Prompts (with IMMENSE help from the Field Guide at [livejournal.com profile] ohidosay , although to be fair I did comb through the comments and make sure the few missing ones were placed), and one of Yet Unfilled Prompts. The latter will be updated regularly, but we will not accept new prompts to this community for organizational purposes. I'll just gather them up at the other community and that will be that.

Hope you lot enjoy-- I'm doing this for you!

If Jeeves were here, he'd have the answer to my query.

As it happens, I am not Jeeves, merely a civilian who wants to improve a facility so that it may benefit myself and the multitude of others who watch, are involved with, and in general enjoy utilizing the Wodehouse kink meme.

I've posted about [livejournal.com profile] ohidosay  before, and only a handful of ideas were tossed up. So here's my idea, and my offer:

Suppose one were to make something in the arena of a second community to correspond and sister our lovely kink meme? One specifically for filled prompts?
Well, I am offering to create and moderate and put what time I have to offer into such a community. I am also offering, since anonymous *posts* can't yet be made in LJ communities to my knowledge, to filter those who want to be posted but not attributed. In short, I'd be the only one who knew, and if that doesn't suit them, then they can continue to live almost entirely unnoticed in the prompt kink meme. I'm not trying to sound unsympathetic, but if that's what they want, then I shan't interfere with their cozy existence.

I'm not going to embarrass myself by creating this thing if no interest is shown. So I'm putting it to you, the general masses who still watch this community:

Yea or Nay?
[identity profile] toodlepipsigner.livejournal.com
Oh, hullo. Didn't see you there.
Not convinced? Okay, I'll get to the point.

So a discussion was in bloom on this post which, we believe, should be opened to the general public (and should be carried on elsewhere rather than loitering in an unrelated post, the more to stop bothering the author of said u. p. ).

The lovely maintainers of [livejournal.com profile] ohidosay  are bright, patient, creative things who have, I'm sure, earned everyone's respect and admiration for the work they put into keeping us primed and porned and overall contented. But I fear a slight miscalculation on the sheer mass of comments for prompts which flooded the community has resulted in its current state of tragic neglect. Our beloved porn prompt is surrounded by overgrown grasses and shrubbery and ensconced in constricting vines. Its formidable appearance intimidates newcomers and gives a headache to those of our number who remember the good old days (really good old 'day', as it seemed the prompt rate went from three to three hundred practically overnight once the thing began).

Attempts have been made on the community by mods and volunteers to amend this tragic loss of a great facility that began with (well, not pure, I mean to say) but progressive, innovative, helpful intentions.

Well, what do we do about it? Brainstorming began on the linked post, but as I mentioned, the thing was recommended to be posted to the masses in general.

I put it to you fine people to aid the brainstorming process, to save our beloved adult meme.

What ho, darlings! I just wanted to give a heads-up that I'm doing Jeeves & Wooster recs on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van for the month of June, so you might want to come check it out in case I dig up something great that you've missed or forgotten, and in case some of you might wonder why you're suddenly getting comments on stuff you wrote ages ago. At least, I hope you will be. :)
[identity profile] erynn999.livejournal.com
As a few of you might remember, I started work a couple of months ago on a Jeeves & Wooster in the Future AU story. I didn't imagine it would end up as immense as it is, but I've finally finished the story and it's in the final stages of beta editing. I've got the whole thing ready to go over on my [livejournal.com profile] mice1900 journal waiting in eyes-only mode for any potential edits, and a master post links list that I'll post here on [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir so everyone can link and read to their heart's content.

The story is posted in 8 chapters with a total of 20 posts and rounds out at somewhere in the vicinity of 171,300 words. With any luck, I'll be able to post before I hit the road Thursday morning for a few days in Vancouver with friends.

It is AU and angsty and smuttly and all kinds of good stuff.

Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] random_nexus, [livejournal.com profile] storyfan and [livejournal.com profile] blackletter (whose fault it is that I got into this fandom to begin with, with his EVIL Holmes/Jooster crossover fic) for their help, their editing, and their handholding and encouragement through this ZOMFGWTFBBQ project.

Watch this space for further developments.
