Sign-ups for the Jeeves & Wooster gift exchange are now open! As I've said before here, this is a fanworks gift exchange, in which participants will make fanworks (fic, art, gifs, etc.) for each other. You won't find out who you were matched with until the gifts are posted. Everyone is welcome to sign up, regardless of skill level. If you're only familiar with the Fry & Laurie series or the books but not both, that's fine too!

You can find out more from the announcement post on Tumblr here, or if you'd like you can go straight to the sign-up form here.

Sign-ups will be open through March 31st, and then assignments will be emailed out on April 2nd. Participants will post their gifts on Tumblr anytime between May 5th to 7th. Please let me know if you have any questions. :)

March 31: Sign ups close
April 2: Emails sent out with your recipient
May 5-7: Gifts are posted on Tumblr

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm looking forward to the exchange! :)

Hi again! I'm happy to report that I'm going forward with the fanworks exchange idea, and I've set up a Tumblr blog for it, right here. I will try to keep people updated here though I will probably post more announcements there. Please follow the blog if you're interested in the exchange! Also, I would really appreciate any help spreading the word there! :)

Would anyone be interested in a Jeeves & Wooster fanworks exchange? I'm thinking of something like the Yuletide secret santa fanfic exchange, except it would be only for Jeeves & Wooster stuff, and all types of fanworks would be welcome (fanart, fanvids, etc. as well as fanfic). Plus, it would be sometime in the spring or summer maybe? Also, I think I would run it as a Tumblr blog.

I've had a lot of fun with gift exchanges in other fandoms, and I think it would be so much fun to do one in the Jeeves fandom, especially since there are so many amazing and creative people around here! I'd love to know if anyone would want to take part in an exchange like this. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone? I'd love to hear your thoughts! :)

We interrupt this broadcast of Jeeves and the (putative) Scorpions for an announcement

Fan_flashworks is a themed challenge community for all fanworks and fandoms on Dreamwidth and Livejournal. Come and check us out!

Fan Flashworks accepts work in any medium (including fingernail painting, baking, and knitting) and any fandom as well as 'crosspollination' (think 'weekly drabbles'?).

And you can earn swell badges to post on your LJ or Dreamwidth accounts.

Mention me, or[livejournal.com profile] storyfan, (and sorry if I missed other Joosterites--tell me and I'll add you here) in your first post to [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks and we earn free toaster badges (I will donate any toasters to IndeedSir to save Jeeves work in the kitchen).

...and now back to our regularly scheduled scorpion.

Not to put any pressure on the gifted writers of this community, but there are tons of Jooster and other Wodehouse prompts (here) and last year's couple of entries were a hoot and a half.

Dear jooster fans: writers, artists, readers. Christmas and New Year challenge is open now!

Alright. So who else screamed when they saw Rowan Atkinson show up in the Opening Ceremonies? Huh?
I know I was laughing! (still am)

(Yeah, I'm stretching the Jeeves Wooster/Blackadder/Mr.Bean connection just a tidge, but I really want to be excited about it with someone, none of my real life family or friends care as much. heh heh)

What ho! Have you heard of this event, happening as it does to sound like a Drones Club event? Be a great place to get some photos you could mani madly, should you be in London.

The Chap Olympiad

"They have events like shouting at foreigners, cucumber sandwich discus, umbrella jousting, butler baiting, swooning, the pipeathalon and ironing board surfing. Also refined refreshments (their words). The dress code is elegant finery, military wear, formal wear, dandy wear. No sportswear please except cricket whites and absolutely no denim. "

Butler baiting? So that leave the Valet Vault or the Valet Ballet? What would Jeeves make of male ballet dancer's outfit?

While investigating the Tweed Ride due to happen in Sydney next Sunday (which any Sydneysiders should definitely come to, because it looks fabulous! Here is a link to the facebook page.) I happened across a site called the Chap. Which strikes me as something of which Jeeves would Definitely Approve. In a modern world where appreciation of well-pressed trousers and a nice tweed jacket is on the downgrade and altogether unsuitable clothing and manners are on the rise I think Jeeves would take refuge in this sanctum where chaps try to uphold decent standards of dress. Bertie would like it too I think. They seem to stand by a Code similar to the Code of the Woosters and they have adventures that sound a little like something the Drones would get up to. Most amusing.

When preparing for my 24-hour long bus journey to London (hurrah for ash clouds!) I looked for Jeeves and Wooster audiobooks on 7digital and found "The World of Jeeves and Wooster" (the tv-series OST). It can be found here. I'm not paid by 7digital to promote this, just thought the people here might be interested as I downloaded my version illegally and my own personal Jeeves disapproves.

Also, are there any Jeeves and Wooster or Wodehouse type events happening in London this spring/summer?

Re: The Wodehouse Exhibition in Mayfair

Has anyone been? I went today and I need someone to geek out over it with. My mum, who went with me, regrettably lacks a soul and fails to appreciate the wonders of Wodehouse.

Wouldn't it be spiffy if we'd actually seen each other there and not known? I wanted to get a badge or something that said 'Jooster fan, please talk to me!', but I couldn't bring myself to scar my poor dear mater any more than I already have.

For anyone who missed it, [livejournal.com profile] momentarylapse8 's post is here.

Dear Wodehousians and fellow Bertie devotees,
this is a friendly reminder for our little charity drive over at [livejournal.com profile] hl_bday_drive.
We will be collecting donations till Hugh´s birthday on June 11 and there are still lots of creative people waiting to be bid on here. Of course you can also donate without grabbing a creative goodie.
So far we´re at 36% of our goal of collecting $5000 for Save the Children.
In our F.A.Q we´ve listed different possibilities to donate. The fastest is over here at our donation page.
We´re dependent on you and your enthusiasm for spreading the word to make our fan drive successful.

What´s left to say other than:

also: Bertie only misspells when he´s most excited.

Thanks to the mods for allowing me to post about our little fan project in the community.

Inspired by the stellar success of the[livejournal.com profile] rsl_bday_drive a handful of fans have gathered together to initiate the [livejournal.com profile] hl_bday_drive - a charity drive to join the forces of different communities and fandoms around the actor Hugh Laurie for a good cause.
In raising money for Save the Children, we want to give the fans and ourselves the opportunity to celebrate Hugh Laurie´s 50th birthday on 11th June, 2009.

You can knit, record a video of you, make a fanvid, write a fanfic, draw pictures, make other graphics (to promote the drive or for others to put on their cafepress shirts), record a podfic, code a webpage or journal layout, create a fanmix, play a song on your guitar and offer it as a mp3. ANYTHING you can think of that other people would donate for. But please note, that this is not an auction and we won´t interfere or control what you and the donor agree upon. You make the rules.

You can find out more about the project and the cause here.
You can sign up to creatively participate here.
You can donate directly, click here.
You are awesome. Always.

Hello fellow Londoners!  This is epically short notice, so I hope you're all either night owls or early risers.

It appears that tomorrow (or rather, later today) May 10th, there's going to be a picnic in honour of Plum in Russell Square!  It starts at noon, and apparently there's going to be "music, fun, games and guest appearances"!  I know there's a certain guest appearance or two most devoutly wished for, but alas, no way to tell for sure except to go!

I'm going to be there!  If you want to say hi, look for a very tall American girl of 21 with unruly black-brown hair and a massive black purse.
