While investigating the Tweed Ride due to happen in Sydney next Sunday (which any Sydneysiders should definitely come to, because it looks fabulous! Here is a link to the facebook page.) I happened across a site called the Chap. Which strikes me as something of which Jeeves would Definitely Approve. In a modern world where appreciation of well-pressed trousers and a nice tweed jacket is on the downgrade and altogether unsuitable clothing and manners are on the rise I think Jeeves would take refuge in this sanctum where chaps try to uphold decent standards of dress. Bertie would like it too I think. They seem to stand by a Code similar to the Code of the Woosters and they have adventures that sound a little like something the Drones would get up to. Most amusing.

I think he would approve of most of it, but most manifestly not THIS item of their manifesto:

10 THOU SHALT ALWAYS CULTIVATE INTERESTING FACIAL HAIR. By interesting we mean moustaches, not beards.

I mean to say!

I suspect he would quiver a bit, much like he did when confronted by Rocky's assertion that he put a sweater on over his pyjamas for dinner. Mustaches might be the thing for other gentlemen, but never for his Bertram.

here's the shortest Jeeves and Bertie fic I'll ever write:

"What's wrong with my mustache, Jeeves?"
"It itches. Sir."

Perhaps you did not run across the royal purple and sky blue plaid... with matching cap... and rainbow stripped socks... I had to look away. I do not know what the sight of those clashing ideas would do to a man with conservative sartorial tastes. I picture possible fainting. In the least a distressed look and the need for a sit down.

The Chap is *awesome*. Search 'The Chap Olympiad' which is a party held with games and suchlike each year (I keep missing it) in London.

I love the Chap, not just the mission they put forth but also for how they write their articles.

Once the games were under way, the sun, having no alternative, chose to shyly show us its rays around halfway through Not Playing Tennis – in which one of the deckchairs collapsed.

It's the best.
