Guys guys guys! I think my dance professor is one of us!

See, today we were learning how do do various jazz walks, and for accompanying music she put on Minnie the Moocher. This wouldn't be surprising in and of itself, but after that was 47 Ginger-Headed Sailors, and then the Jeeves and Wooster theme song, and then a ton of music that I recognized as being played on the show. After the jazz walks she had me go on her iPod and switch it to a different playlist...and that's when I discovered that the songs we had been jazz-walking to for an hour were on a playlist called "Jooster".

Yes, I am reading too much into this. But it's still hilarious. And slightly frightening.

I just want to draw everyone's attention to this site:

Bertram Books

This is where I order all the English books we sell in our bookstore. I haven't even thought about it before now (which shocks even me) since we just call it "Bert" all the time, but there it is. Bertram Books. And there's a 24 hour service for orders and questions called "Call Bertie" which just sets me off in unamable spasms of squee.

Hey, baby.

I thought it was too quiet around here, so I will share this image I found on a random Google search.

Yeah, you show that shirt who's boss LOL

What ho, all!

This sadly has absolutely nothing to do with Jeeves&Wooster, but I still post it here since so many of you fine folks have helped me in the past with music searches. My question: does anybody know what music was popular during the Second World War, particularly in France? We're having an "'Allo 'Allo" theme party, and it has fallen to me to mix a little soundtrack. So music from the early-to-mid forties, anyone? I just need names/titles :)

Thanks so much in advance.

A bit of offtop, but very, very interesting, especially for fic writers. The extracts from the new book about sex scandal behind Waugh's Brideshead Revisited:
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/book_extracts/article6788504.ece
Вright young things, aristocratic morals, homosexual relations with male servants and many more.
Just a little quotation:
* Lord Beauchamp’s homosexuality had been an open secret for years at a certain exalted level of society. He had a weakness for sex with his male servants, which had not abated since he married Lady Lettice Grosvenor, sister of the Duke of Westminster.
Boom — as Beauchamp was known, ostensibly because of his foghorn voice — was said to have “exquisite taste in footmen”. His interviewing style was unique. He would pass his hands over their buttocks, making a similar hissing noise to the one made by stable lads when rubbing their horses down. If the young man was handsome and pleasant, the earl would remark: “He’ll do well. Very nice indeed!”
The fingers of the footmen of Madresfield were said to be glittering with diamonds. One could hear the clunk of the jewelery as they served dinner. Harold Nicolson, the diplomat and diarist, recalled an astonished fellow guest at Madresfield who asked: “Did I hear Beauchamp whisper to the butler, ‘Je t’adore?’ ”
“Nonsense,” Nicolson replied. “He said, ‘Shut the door’.” *

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this in a comment on another post.

So, first a little background:

For the past few years, I've been going to this live-action roleplay camp called The Wayfinder Experience. While there, we dress in costumes and grab some foam swords and play Adventure Games that have world background and all kinds of characters. At the end of every year, people are invited to submit their own adventure games to be played at an event in the coming year. Last year, one of mine was picked for Advanced Camp (5 games in 12 days): a mythology game called The Five Moons of Japan. This year, another one of my games, called Space Opera, was picked to be played at another camp. It's about an intrepid space military unit who defies orders to rescue a magical race of Bards from destruction at the hands of evil space demons called the Soundless.

Since I was going through my Britspasm while writing the character sheets, naturally I HAD to have Bertie and Jeeves stand-ins.

Long story short: "Bertie" loses everything in a massacre and joins the mob, is accused of assassinating the President of Mars, and is turned into a soulless space demon. "Jeeves" stays with him the whole time, until he joins the mob and "Jeeves" becomes so ashamed of how far his beloved (yes, they DO have an established bromance) master has fallen that he joins the military in angst.

Here are their actually character sheets:

Wilbert Chaser )

Sean Reeves )

The game will be played Tuesday night. Wish me luck! I shall report on the boy's fates!

At first,I was going to keep this WTFkery to my own friends list, but I think I'll share.

Slightly Off-topic
My friend and I were in a book shop earlier, browsing through the clearance boxes full of 5$ books, when she picked out one particular book and reiterated the title to me.

"Wake up, Sir!"
"Hang on... could I see that?"

This piece of work author Jonathan Ames, wrote a book about a modern Jeeves. The Jeeves character is still exactly the same as he was in the original Wodehouse books. This Jeeves resides in modern America, and is valeting for a man named Alan Blair, the narrator and protagonist. Blair embodies many of Wooster's mannerisms with a degree more intelligence and a more modern way of speaking. Also, he has an actual interest in women, though he believes in the Jung theory that we are all essetially bisexual. He is an alcoholic, and smokes marijuana. And he has an Aunt Florence. Gahhah.

There are passages in the book where he is actually discussing his homosexual fantasies with Jeeves. The fantasies cite Papillon as its inspiration, with Blair fantasising about being held captive and being forced to play the role of the woman to another prison inmate.  He concludes this is more regarding his desire to be loved than his desire to actually be forced into depraved acts. Jeeves is not perturberd at all by the conversation.
Halfway through the book at the moment, so forgive me if I post about this again at a later date. I'll try not to rant too much. Some things are just too good to keep to oneself.
Terribly sorry if this is OT, but I highly recommend the book. Jeeves is still his stuffed frog self, extricating the new young master from modern dilemas. Thought I'd share, even if it's not slash-per-se. :)

Has anyone else read this? I didn't find any posts about it. Unless I'm missing something.

EDIT: Yes after rereading my post I realized those of you who have read the book pointed out that Jeeves is implied to be a hallucination, which I forgot to mention.  :)

What-ho, my fellow eggs!

Sorry for the off-topicity of this post, but for days I have tried and failed to remember the title/author of a book series that was once mention here on indeedsir. The series in question was a dark humor-ish crime one, with a touch Wodehouse parody (I distinctly remember the original poster using the term anti-Jeeves) and would be absolutely beside myself with joy if anyone could tell me the blasted name once more.

My eternal - or at least very long-term - affections to the one who puts my negligible mind at ease. :)

I know this is wildly off-topic, but I also know a number of our lovely members are as obsessed with Stephen Fry as I.

http://www.morganritchie.com/ - an artist, namely, Morgan Ritchie, illustrates Mr Fry's daily Tweeting. Mr Fry is aware; he commented on it in his Twitter. The drawings are really lovely ^^

Good morning, all! While kicking my muse around to get her started again (unfinished fic is lying around my hard drive), I just though I'd share some pics from the Jazz Age party I hosted this weekend, since it turned out a great success and we had such fun and I just recommend everyone do the same ^^

I put the link to my Facebook album here, if anyone would like to see ^^ Notice that all the men are wearing braces! We did happy Charleston dancing over that :)

My OCs-Heffie and Wright-now have their own chapter, telling what took place before chapter 26 of my Jeeves and Wooster story, Troubled Times.

Hopefully, it's here:

Something I'd love to own )

Eta: NOOOO! They sold it to someone else before I had a chance to get it, even though I sent an email mere hours after it was put out for sale. Woe is me. Sigh...

Okay, I feel evil just asking this, but... Does anyone know about any QI fic? I was watching the B series (yuzz, got it on DVD) today, and I just couldn't get the thought out of my head that Stephen and Alan Davies would be sooo adorable...

Fine, I'm ashamed just asking. But no insult is intended; just pornage. Any tips/pimpage would be welcomed!

As a matter of interest... Is anyone else here a member of [livejournal.com profile] rounds_of_kink? I've never seen the Jeeves&Wooster fandom represented there, which is a shame, because this community usually produces utterly delicious and kinky things. Briefly, the point is that everyone can submit prompts for fic and/or art, centered around a sexual kink, and then anyone can claim the prompts and write fic/make art.

I ask because the comm is opening round eleven now, I think, and there's been a lot of discussion on drag!fic, masochist!Jeeves and things like that :) Sounds perfect for kinky fic, if you ask me ^^

What  ho, all!

I was looking at the cast list for the 2010 release of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, and found that Stephen Fry is cast as the Chesire Cat. I can't wait to see that!

*banishes the plot bunnies* (Aunt Agatha as the Red Queen though...)

Hello! I've been lurking on this wonderful and very active comm for quite a little time now, in the hope that talent might be catching^^ It feels very good to be here, I can tell you.

I come here today bringing advertising for another comm:

[livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble

just opened signups for round 6 of their multifandom mini-fic remix challenge. Feel free to drop by and sign up as a Remixee (authorizing others to remix your fic) or a Remixer (remixing a work of another author in 100 words exactly), or both!

Signups are open until May 11th, and finished fic will be due June 10th.

Come by! It's round 6 already, and the tag fandom: jeeves & wooster has yet to be created!

(I won't make an habit of such announcements. I'm relurking already, see?)

This is a first post, so hullo to everyone!

This summer I'll be working with a theater company performing Anything Goes. My mother is doing the costumes, and as SM I'm helping her.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone know the best Jeeves and Wooster episodes for 20s costumes? (We're using this as an excuse to rewatch some old episodes)

Thanks is advance!

Quick question - does anybody know what happened to the J/W site at Hat Sharpening Shop? It's been down for a while now. Does anyone know if it'll be up again at all?
