This is a first post, so hullo to everyone!

This summer I'll be working with a theater company performing Anything Goes. My mother is doing the costumes, and as SM I'm helping her.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone know the best Jeeves and Wooster episodes for 20s costumes? (We're using this as an excuse to rewatch some old episodes)

Thanks is advance!

I don't know about 20s costumes...judging by the ladies' clothes I'd guess the series starts in 1929-30 at the earliest. Do you need 20s clothes specifically?

Yeah, I'd agree - the Woosterverse definitely seems to exist in the '30s, not the '20s (at least on TV). If you want '20s costumes, you might be better off with The House of Eliott - they're showing quite a lot of it on Yesterday thee days if you're in the UK.

THe whole set does a fantastic job with costume, though I think maybe more attention is paid to it in the first season. THere is one episode, the Dog McIntosh episode, where you get to see Bertie sans trousers as he is dressing for dinner, and it's rather interesting to see all the bizarre underclothing of the time. The knee-length underwear, and everything. I recall it's just at the point where he's saying to Jeeves 'what I am about to say is going to make you look pret-ty silly' - and all I could think was 'not half as silly as you look!'

For more American-style evening party-wear, check out 'The Full House' from season 3, and 'The Once and Future Ex', 'Bridegroom Wanted!' and 'The Delayed Arrival' from season 4. All these episodes show a great deal of New York Nightlife during the Prohibition era.
