Title: The Jeevesianian Whatchamacallit
Pairings: Jeeves/Bertie, Bertie/Athena (not if Jeeves can help it), Athena/Loki (not if Zeus can help it), Stilton/Florence, Apollo/Florence, Anatole/Seppings (implied)
Summary: Jeeves turns into a Centaur and, well, er, whatsit.
Rating: PG/PG-13
Word Count: ~6000
Warnings: Centaurs are naughty. Hipogriffs consume innocent neckwear. Nymphs run amok at Brinkley Court. Crack Mythology, Harry Potter crossovers.
Also on my LJ since I recently figured out how to use that little scissors whatchamajiggy.

The only thing that bothered me was your characterization of Athena, but that's probably because she's my patron goddess, and I love her more than I should.
Perfectly topping! you get ALL THE STARS

Date: 2012-11-01 10:04 pm (UTC)You are right about the depiction of Athena, of course. In this story, she's a really kind of awful melding of Stiffy Byng, Madeline Bassett and Florence Craye--with a good dose of "Serena" from Bewitched thrown in for comic value. I think part of it is that Bertie just brings out the worst in intellectual females. The other thing to think about, of course, is that she is more than 2,000 years old and her father is still controlling her dating life, which could make anyone act rather immature.

Date: 2012-11-02 05:52 am (UTC)Like I said, I just think way too highly of my dear Athena. I've always thought of her as the ancient version on a she-nerd, shut up in her temples with her books, and kid of oblivious about the more lovey doevey emotional stuff. (I see Holmes the same way, though). I mean, even Artemis would have been better. She's pretty scary too, goddess of the hunt and all.....she'd probably channel Honoria.
sorry, being an oversensitive Pagan again
I really did like it! It mad eme laugh, and I liked you daddy!Zeus a lot....I'm disappointed by the lack of Ganymede joke, though

Date: 2012-11-02 12:31 pm (UTC)...it's sort of the point, isn't it, that Bertie attracts these brainy women who then get a bit odd? And she's already acting weird at the beginning, because she's carrying a bow (not hers)
So, of course, Athena would not know what to do and try to act like Aphrodite or a nymph...but she has these clear little moments when she realizes that Bertie isn't smart enough for her. And because Bertie and Jeeves are narrating it, they show her in a bad light--Bertie because he is scared to death and Jeeves because he is annoyed.
I couldn't figure out how to get Ganymede in there without annoying Jeeves... does bear some thinking about.

Date: 2012-11-02 09:07 pm (UTC)And I totally see what you were trying to do, believe me! Like I said, Athena is my angel godsess, and I just don't like seeing her like this....that's my issue, though.
Maybe like, Bertie should meet him, and they become besties, and he's like 'jeeves is in this club named after you' and Ganymede is all 'oho, really now?;' *fluttery eyes* or somthin, idk
