Most of you chaps on here probably already know this, but I was reading a biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle today [insert rant about library's lack of Wodehouse biogs here] and I came across this gem, written by Plum to celebrate The Return:

That sort of thing is fun for Sherlock... )

Yes, I know I'm a very late participant to the [livejournal.com profile] chaoschick13's filk challenge, but since I plan to spam this comm this weekend finally got it working, here we go. Pardon any mistakes, it was a bit difficult, but it sure was fun.

Beware, Lady Gaga, here comes Mr Jeeves )

In my defence, I have had no Internet for the last few days so I would have posted earlier, but couldn't.

Over here!

Oh by Jeeves

Far from the land of San Domingo
Lives the Drones' Club: Bertie, Bingo,
Gussie, Stilton, Catsmeat, Tuppy
Freddie, Monty, Boko, Oofy...

From the City in their galoshes
Came the young and rich by-goshes
Gussie, Stilton, Catsmeat, Tuppy
Freddie, Monty, Boko, Oofy...

They all spoke with an Eton lingo
And they all said, "Oh, by Jingo!
We are all in love
And we don't know what to do, by Jove!"

Oh, by gee, by gosh, by gum, get Jeeves
Can he ease our pickles and our peeves?
All from Rocky in his hut
And Bertie, who's our favourite nut!
We've got lots of little awkward questions
Has he got the right suggestions?

Oh, by gee, by gosh, by gum, get Jeeves
(Oh get Jeeves, oh get Jeeves!)
He can ease our pickles and our peeves
(Will you kindly raise your voice?) Louder!

All from Rocky in his hut
And Bertie, who's our favourite nut!
Bertie's clothes are all by-Jeeveses
(Sorts him out his shoes and sleeveses)

Jeeves and Bertie said, "What's all the fuss?
(There was quite a lot of fuss)
Oh by jiminy please don't bother us
(Bother them, bother them!)
So they all went away, saying
"Oofy, Tuppy, Gussie, Catsmeat.... Jeeves is the only one for us!"

I challenge you all to…a…challenge…

Filkish fun. Though this isn’t 100% strictly filk, I have nothing else to call it. And really, it kinda is filk…because what the heck is filk really anyway?

Moving on….

I thought this might make an interesting challenge for the comm. Pick a song, any song. Modern or from Wodehouse time. Strip that song of its lyrics and apply your own, dealing somehow with anything from the Jeeves stories. Any character, any setting, whatev.

So, here is my sad little offering for it.

Bust out your Minnie the Moocher, folks!

Follow the fake cut...

Links back to lyrics of filks previously posted in this community. I had a few memoried.

"Oh Jeeves" by [livejournal.com profile] onecheekyhobbit

"I Want A Valet" by [livejournal.com profile] lucylou

"Any Time Is Slash Time" by [livejournal.com profile] peak_in_darien

I still can't find my own posting of "Big Manly Valet" by [livejournal.com profile] eor - I can't believe I did not have that memory linked. I've even run a document search on my own computer, hoping I have a copy saved. When he comes home I'll see if he has a copy. Or I'll use a brute force attack and just keep plugging my way through old entries.

So I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] woe_in_a_hoodie today, and listening to Hairspray, and ALL OF A SUDDEN Kitty bursts into song, and changed the lyrics a bit so the song applies to her and Bertie. Like you do.

There is no good reason in the world for this, and yet here it is. My prediction is that you will either giggle wildly or vomit. Hopefully not both.

I feel a deep, burning need to direct you all to this:  [livejournal.com profile] eor has been reading Wodehouse, and the result is Big Manly Valet (sung to Prince's Raspberry Beret).
