Ohidosay: Improvement?

 Oh, hullo. Didn't see you there.
Not convinced? Okay, I'll get to the point.

So a discussion was in bloom on this post which, we believe, should be opened to the general public (and should be carried on elsewhere rather than loitering in an unrelated post, the more to stop bothering the author of said u. p. ).

The lovely maintainers of ohidosay  are bright, patient, creative things who have, I'm sure, earned everyone's respect and admiration for the work they put into keeping us primed and porned and overall contented. But I fear a slight miscalculation on the sheer mass of comments for prompts which flooded the community has resulted in its current state of tragic neglect. Our beloved porn prompt is surrounded by overgrown grasses and shrubbery and ensconced in constricting vines. Its formidable appearance intimidates newcomers and gives a headache to those of our number who remember the good old days (really good old 'day', as it seemed the prompt rate went from three to three hundred practically overnight once the thing began). 

Attempts have been made on the community by mods and volunteers to amend this tragic loss of a great facility that began with (well, not pure, I mean to say) but progressive, innovative, helpful intentions.

Well, what do we do about it? Brainstorming began on the linked post, but as I mentioned, the thing was recommended to be posted to the masses in general.

I put it to you fine people to aid the brainstorming process, to save our beloved adult meme.

One hates to use the harsh word 'freeloader' about those who are doubtless just enthuiastic recipients.... but!!!!

There is a temptation to 'taste all the deserts' aka to post many MANY prompts and ideas... and to answer far fewer.

Perhaps if the moderators were to suggest... again I hate to use the word rule ... so perhaps a cultural norm?... by which a prompter would get one or two prompts - then not prompt again until they had themselves responded to one.

I note this might also encourage many first-time writers to overcome modesty and share their craft/

I would agree that would be a good way to sort of tone down the sheer mass of prompts. But another big problem is being notified when there is a fill, without being notified for the twenty or so prompts which would still be cropping up every week. *ponders*

I have to say, I churn out a lot more stuff when it's anonymous. Especially on a kinkmeme. XD

I'm not going to set off a reaction to disband the kinkmeme in any way. actually the comm I'm making can't *really* exist without the prompts on the other site. Just setting something up for they that wish to not undergo the tracking monster and/or they that want their ficcage to get immediate and unhindered attention (though usually they post on here for that sort of thing. But you never know).
