Oh, how these reviews amuse me...

"Based on the well-loved novels of P.G. (Pelham Grenville) Wodehouse, this British series featuring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, chronicles the misadventures (romantic and otherwise) of the impeccably dressed Bertie Wooster and his trusty and sagacious butler, Jeeves. "

Am I the only one who read this as "romantic and otherwise adventures between Jeeves and Bertie"?

I found a Belgian Drones Club... omgsquee.

Hee, love your icon. It reminds me of the time I told a friend how slashable I thought J&W were:
He: Jeeves! That's so wrong! "A gentleman's gentleman"!
I: Exactly.

Lol. I think I would have to explain slash if I used the term around my mother, and then she'd go "hm" in a sort of maternal way. Which is a pity, really, because she used to fancy David McCallum too...

I would not mention the subject to Mom.

Mom (prompted by something on TV: "I don't understand how anyone could be attracted to someone of his own gender. I mean, if I was a man, I just can't imagine it."
Me: "Well, you're attracted to them now, aren't you?"
Mom: "Yes, but I'm a woman."

Helen and Nikki kissing in Bad Girls prompted this:
Mom: "I don't like it how... these British shows... make it look like it's... fifty-fifty, you know?"
I took that to mean that it's unrealistic that a show about a women's prison has a lesbian relationship in it.

*rolls her eyes* AND she's against kink. She says sex is natural and okay, as long as it's not kinky.

This might not be the place to talk about this, but...

You femmeslashed PotC? Go you.

There's something about the amicable master-servant relationship that seems to be inherently slashable, I guess.

And...yes, like when you were three, but Bertie is what? In his twenties? Bit of a difference, what? *grin* I don't think I've ever really broached the slash subject with the folks, but I'm sure they've heard me talking about it on the phone or summat. They'd probably just sort of be like "Huh. Interesting. Well, carry on then." Considering that's how they reacted when I told them *I* was gay, I doubt they'd be any more phased by the fact that I enjoy reading and speculating about characters from books and TV shows and whatnot engaged in extra-canonical affairs. ^_~

Funny, non-slashers who can readily see the Sam/Frodo point seem to have a hard time grasping the idea of Jeeves/Wooster. Hm.

*L* It hasn't really come up much, I suppose. I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I like girls and, oddly, older British men. Don't ask me why.

Older actor. Quite unfortunately deceased.

And yes, I stumbled upon him mainly because he played Phileas Fogg. So sue me. :p

I think I read that one in the fic-a-thon that your post inspired. Whee.

Heh, the way I see it, Jeeves's impassive character makes extremely subtle moments of emotion stand out sharply. If any other character had commented that he had come "very near to melting" in those circumstances, I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but hearing JEEVES think it...it stands out like a bolt of lightening.

Posting early again. Should probably quit this. ^^

I had one of those "Good god, have I really been reading fic this whole time?" moments.

I think it's definately the "Is NOTHING sacred?!?" aspect...I mean, people tend to see Jeeves as the epitome of propriety. The idea of him engaged in *ahem* impropriety seems farfetched ^^
