First, before I get to the art, BBC Radio's running "The Inimitable Jeeves" right now. I don't much care for the radio adaptations, but others may enjoy it. :)

I did this partly to make a point. ;D In so many fics, Bertie's dressed in a blue suit or given a blue tie to bring out the blue in his eyes. Not that he wouldn't look great in blue, but actually I think blue clothes would make his eyes blend in. Since blue and yellow are complementary colors, golds/yellows and rust tones would make them stand out most.
I had drawn this picture last year and had finished coloring it & was about to post...when I realized I'd left out the ski poles. So I put it on the back shelf for months. Since getting my tablet, I redrew it - with the poles this time - and made a few other fixes as well.

Bertie playin' his banjolele.

I mentioned maybe doing Honoria in drag to a few of you in my last post. I decided to give it a try, so here she is. It turned out even better than I'd hoped, which hardly ever happens. :D

*******
Due to LJ's recent fuckery with the Scrapbook system, I'm considering hosting my art elsewhere and linking to it here. I've heard that some early users have lost photos in the move, plus it's not going to allow tagging (or subgalleries as far as I can tell).
I've been asked before if I have a website or Tumblr. Originally I was opposed to getting a Tumblr because it's more public than just posting in this community, but I know some of my pictures have been reblogged there already. So maybe I should just go ahead and make one? How many of you are on there? Photobucket's another possibility, but a boring one.

Date: 2012-05-01 01:51 am (UTC)Personally, I think that a blue accessory does wonders for his eyes, like a tie or pocket scarf, but I like him dressed in browns and grays for the main suits. I'm sure that Jeeves prefers tame colors also!

Date: 2012-05-01 11:13 pm (UTC)I love him in blue myself. I'm just sort of wondering why every time someone wants to emphasize Bertie's eyes, blue is always the go-to color.

Date: 2012-05-01 01:52 am (UTC)I would definitely follow you if you had a tumblr. (Is "following" the correct term? I'm new to Tumblr.)

Date: 2012-05-01 11:15 pm (UTC)Yay! If I create one, I'll certainly let the community know. And yes, you're right about "following". :)

Date: 2012-05-01 03:00 am (UTC)I'm also enjoying the way your version of Bertie is developing. I like the reddish tones to his hair because that's the way I've always pictured him.
Photobucket is a pretty boring way to share art, if that's what you want to do. I just store things there and get the links when I need them. I've never done tumblr, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it. A lot of Jooster fans have accounts, I think.

Date: 2012-05-01 11:27 pm (UTC)I'm still sort of refining my image of Bertie and I feel like I haven't got just the right look for him yet in the portrait, but I'm very pleased with it all the same. :)
Photobucket's definitely dull. I'm also not comfortable with how recently uploaded public photos show up on the front page.

Date: 2012-05-01 03:26 am (UTC)I love the way you keep certain features of Laurie and discard others. It's like Laurie was cast to play this real person he somewhat resembles, and this is the face of the original.

Date: 2012-05-01 11:37 pm (UTC)It's unintentional, but I do see a resemblance to Hugh in my Bertie. But yeah, there's something genuinely Bertie-ish about his face and I can't get him to stop affecting my mental vision.

Date: 2012-05-01 11:49 pm (UTC)Most of the artists I watch on Tumblr don't seem to use watermarks, and they're far better artists than I am. But I am worried about theft, so I think I'd probably have an address in a corner like I do now, plus a small signature where it couldn't be easily cropped out. I'm definitely not going to use DA - I like browsing there, but I've heard too many unpleasant things about it to be willing to host art there.

Date: 2012-05-02 12:09 am (UTC)I love the fiancées, too. They're terrible for Bertie, but endearing in their own ways...Actually, I'm not that fond of Bobbie as a person, but she can be fun to draw.

Date: 2012-05-01 08:14 am (UTC)Second, anything with your art, I'm likely to follow. Yes, I'm over on Tumblr but don't post that much. I'd follow you. :D
Third, omg as always so awesome to see new stuff from you!

Date: 2012-05-02 09:08 pm (UTC)Looks like I remembered incorrectly, though. I just searched Photobucket a moment ago, and the recent uploads are displayed in "Explore - Recent". So not the front page, but still easily accessible.

Date: 2012-05-02 12:22 am (UTC)You saw the original skiing picture. How do you think it compares to this one? I feel like overall the new version is better, but it'd be nice to have an outside opinion.

Date: 2012-05-01 04:55 pm (UTC)PS I don't like brown clothes, but that's because I have a very different skin color. They do fit Bertie well.

Date: 2012-05-03 06:51 pm (UTC)Never thought about Bertie skiing (probably because I'm not a fan) but it makes perfectly sense for a winter holiday! Poor Jeeves would fret about him breaking bones though xD
I think Honoria just made my week :D

Date: 2012-05-03 10:27 pm (UTC)I can't quite see Bertie taking up skiing. I just wanted to do something wintery. I could imagine him giving it a try, getting sick of the whole business very quickly, and going back into the lodge to have a brandy by the fire, as he should've done in the first place.
Thank you! :D
