I don't remember seeing this here before and a quick search didn't reveal anything...

Anyone in the market for a new alarm clock?

No more rude buzzers, please. This alarm clock wakes you first with the sound of gentle birdsong, then a discreet cough and comforting words "Good morning, Sir" (or Madam) followed by a charming and amusing message -- a different one each morning (six months worth before they start repeating). The voice is that of British actor Stephen Fry (Jeeves of Jeeves and Wooster fame).

Message sample:
"(discreet cough) Good morning, Madam. I'm so sorry to disturb you, but it appears to be morning. Very inconvenient, I agree. I believe it is the rotation of the earth that is to blame."

It's been around for quite a while (the clock, I mean). I think's it's been mentioned on this comm before, but it's such a cool item, I'm sure there are new people who haven't heard of it.

I've had mine since Spring of 2010; I love it. Also? My cat loves it because it Makes Mommy Get Up. The "alarm" always begins with the sound of chirping birds, which is what first caught her attention. Then, as she realized over time that the man talking inside the little box made me get out of bed, she grew very fond of Mr Clock. Now, when the birds start tweeting, she jumps up onto the headboard where the clock resides and rubs her face on the clock.

Once, when I was listening to something of Stephen Fry's on my laptop, Kitty heard his voice and came running so that she could rub her cheek over the corners of the laptop lid. "I love you, Mr Clock!" LOL

That. Is the Cutest and Most Awesome Cat Story!!

And, if a cat could attach attention to any voice, it would be Stephen Fry's!!

:-) Thank you. Kitty preens in your general direction.

And I agree that Mr Fry's voice is no doubt irresistible to all creatures great and small, as it were.

Is the talented Mr Fry also known for his ability to lure and charm cats, then? :-) I never knew!

Kitty would like to thank her agent, the producers, and her adoring fans. *g*

I wonder if Mr Fry knows that he inspires the adulation of cats. Surely, he must.

I want that clock so bad :D

I've got the "Uhum, Good morning sir. The World has been very anxious to hear from you for the last eight hours. Shall I inform the news agencies you're about to rise?" line on the alarm clock of my Iphone :P

I posted it a couple of years ago and I feel like a heel that I still haven't bought one, as I had a nice exchange of emails with the inventor of it. I told him he should make a version with "Ma'am" and he did, only he didn't really do it the way I intended and there are different messages for Madam. Not as cool ones! :P I desperately want to take the guts out of that clock and put them inside another clock I have, because I can't quite conscience having another clock when the one which used to belong to my grandparents is not working right now. If anyone ever has one get so damaged on the outside shell that they don't want it but the insides still work, I will buy it from you! :)

When I buy one, I think I'll get the "Sir" clock. Then I can pretend to be Bertie every morning...and that would be wonderful fun!!

I definitely bought the "sir" one so that I could hear Jeeves speaking to Bertie. :-)

Oh I need this in my my life ever so badly. Unfortunately, my current financial situation prevents it. My current alarm in the Qi klaxons, which IS very effective, but not at all gorgeous and high and true and fine and fluffy and moist and sticky and lovely. I am also rather dismayed that I cannot find ANY of these phrases for my phone....

I'm afraid that even the $60 is rather out of my price range, I'm going to college next year, so I am teh poor.

My phone is not iPone, and my iPod is a handmedown that is SOOOO OLD. I was just complaining. Might put this on my birthday list though!
