I thought the comm might get a bit of a laugh out of this:

I'm watching one of those "Judge So-and-so" shows with my grandmother. Someone is suing his friend for money lost in the friend's free-range chicken business idea.

The friend had no farming experience and no idea about anything to do with free range chickens, but he thought it sounded like a good way to make some money - if he could get some money to start with. "A man told me he would sell me twelve chickens for two-hundred dollars."

All I can think of is Bicky Bickersteth. "I mean to say it's an absolute cert if you once get a bit of capital. You buy a hen, and it lays an egg every day of the week, and you sell the eggs, say, seven for twenty-five cents..."

First off your icon is amazing. Quite possibly the greatest thing ever in the history of everything.

Second, this is particularly amusing to me because I also keep chickens. And my god, I paid somewhere around $2.50 a piece for them as chicks and that was kind of expensive.

Word! I also keep chickens, and most of them are ex-battery girls whom I got for $2.50 each!

And the icon is made of awesome. Now I want the fic to go with it. *grabbyhands* ;)

Even free range chickens need shelter and supplemental food and vet bills and workers to collect the eggs and so on. That's why I was so amused by Bicky's innocent plan. It's hysterical that people are still thinking of it as a get rich quick scheme! Bertie really was the brains of the Drones club, wasn't he?

That's hilarious - thank's so much for the link! :) I can just imagine Captain Picard trying to talk to Captain Bertie! LOL!

And yeah, it's not like chickens make eggs out of nothing! A get rich quick scheme it is not - I just about break even each month selling my surplus eggs to offset the feed costs. I am afraid Bertie is the brains of the drones cub.

Well, some writer johnny did once claim that truth was stranger than fiction. I guess this pretty well goes to show that truth is at least as strange as fiction.
