It is probably not news to most members of this community but as I've just discovered it, I thought I'd let everyone know in case there are others like me who did not know of it -
PG Wodehouse's books are available for free download at the Guttenberg Project site at this address:
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/search.html/?default_prefix=author_id&sort_order=downloads&query=783

I didn't know! I knew they were public domain but I hadn't found them in my searches for free ebooks. So if nothing else I appreciate it! Thanks so much :)

You may note that not all of Wodehouse's stuff is listed there, because it's not all out of copyright. His last book was written in 1974 and is well within copyright period at the moment.

In my current financial status, every little bit helps! I'm sure someday I'll have the completed works in bound leather and gilt edges, right?

It wasn't a criticism, I was just saying you weren't going to find things like "Aunts Aren't Gentlemen/The Catnappers" there because they're not out of copyright yet. It would be great if they were.

I didn't take it as a criticism, just allowed my RL to cross over into my escapism a bit, made my lame joke read sarcastic. Sorry! I feel that reading the canon and such can only help in my attempts to do this world justice. I'd buy them all if I could, in any condition! Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, okay, sorry. I've been getting mine at used bookshops, personally. I did download several from Project Gutenberg, but I love hard copy that I can flip through and play with.

I got a really nice hardback from half.com for basically shipping and handling because it was a best of/ favorites kind of thing, but is was from the 50's. But that's all I've been able to get, because the nearest bookshop is actually a room off the side of the local trophy making store and all they ever have is those dime a dozen romance novels. Nearest city with a real book store, is Memphis, at three hours. Every time I wind up in a 'city' with a bookstore, I go completely nuts and spend about four times more than I can afford, just cause I love the smell and feel and being able to go back and pick it up anytime, even when my computer's on the fritz. So, yeah, I love books too! Music, movies and books, the only reasons to bother with that job crap, right? Anyway, I shall go away now, before I fill up this simple post with far more than you wanted to know! Too late, you say?

I've been meaning to go to the site and find some of his stories, but I've been lazy about it. Thanks, you've saved me the trouble :)

Just thought I'd add, there are a lot of Wodehouse books on librivox.org as well. It's a site where volunteers make podcasts of public domain works, and I think it's pretty awesome.
