So.  I need more lesbian!Madeline.  Like breathing.  If you can throw her and Honoria in with her friend Hilda, who I'm pretty sure is BBC only ("There's a damned man behind the sofa.") I will love you forever.   Not that you have to produce or link me to anything to earn my undying love, you can just tell me your thoughts on femmeslash for this series.

Also: Florence Craye: in search of someone who will stand up to her, or the perfect 24/7 sub who actually gets off on how controlling she is?  Discuss.

Ok. I personally don't read femslash but the chicks in J&W do lead one to think that a reason that Bertie has become 'one of nature's bachelors' is because the women are more interested in each other. Not my cup of tea but I can totally see it.

In regards Florence Craye- that girl needs a firm and steady hand to control the reins. I feel that she's so overbearingin order to test people. If you let her walk all over you, she's not interested.

That "damned man" scene and the ensuing chase is by far one of the funniest in the series.

I like reading femmeslash for the show, though I don't write any of it. For some reason, it's the only fandom for which I'll read femmeslash. It must be as the previous poster said - these women suit each other better than they suit Bertie.

I'm thinking Florence Craye needs an equally strong partner, whether man or woman. She likes to run things, but I also think she'd not feel compromised if she now and then submitted to someone who is her intellectual and temperamental equal. They'd get great pleasure in learning how to play each other with both of them thinking they'd got their own way in everything. A pairing like that might be tiring to watch, though. I'd rather see them join forces in an attempt to outwit Jeeves or something like that, which of course can't be done.

I'd say Honoria, but I don't see the chemistry. I can't really see Florence with anyone for long though, she seems toxic to romance. She'll wind up with someone mild mannered and brow beaten, like her father is.

I don't see any chemistry with Honoria and Florence, either. You're probably more accurate than I am about Florence's future romantic entanglements. She does need someone to mold.

For some reason I've always seen Stiffy with Maddy.

Shouldn't you be writing? >:)

My writing roll was disrupted yesterday with a rather significant and sudden change in plans. Stupid RL always gets me down.
Hopefully this situation won't be a complete hindrance, but it will slow me down a little for a few days. I'm still writing though, master, I promise. >xD

DAMNIT!!
I hope r/l stops bothering you soon, so you can just spend your life at the computer, here, with me ;)
Well, I suppose I can give you a few days of rest... :DD
Besides I won't be writing anytime soon either; r/l is disturbing me too, I'm considering just abandoning my fic now, too time consuming. xD

You do that, and I'll fly to England and it will be lashes until you finish.
I don't think I'm alone in the category of people who would be totally pissed if you dropped it altogether.

Hope RL gives you a break too, but, for serious, this can't be permanent. I'm going to pick up writing again tonight and hopefully post up rather sizable chapter tonight.

Write when you can. If you need help let me know. But write!

Mmmm... it hasn't got many readers and a.t.m. I'm overwhelmed with funerals to go to.
It would seem there's been some form of natural culling of elders in my family. :(
Plus with my college work building up for year 13 I'm not sure I'll have the time to sit and write.

The more I think about Bertie with women, the more I think it would work best if he was a lesbian couple's intermittent sex toy.

I didn't know that I needed it like burning, but omg I kind of seriously need that fic like burning.

I'm going to sleep on this delicious scenario. I imagine jealous!Jeeves extracting some kind of punishment for Bertie's transgressions...

thoughts on femmeslash

As with anything, if you wrote it I would read it :D

Florence is probably just that kind of tired old sexist trope who just wants a man to sort her out, but your second explanation is way more interesting. I think her sub should be...Gussie!

Bingo? He'd fall madly in love with her and do anything she asked. Actually, that's kind of hot.

Hmm...my take on Florence Craye is that all she actually wants is a mirror: someone in whom she can see her own reflection, and nothing else.

Re: Lesbian!Madeline: "We shall dance sky-clad in the dew-strewn grass, under the cool gaze of the brilliant moon, and perhaps the sweet bunnies will come and dance with us!" Although I have no problem with femmeslash, indeed I enjoy it, the thought of Madeline in any kind of 'throes of passion' produces pretty much the same sensation in my brain as a big mouthful of a very cold slushee: brain freeze.

*flails*

I can't even imagine Madeline naked. My brain just shuts down.

But...maybe a little light spanking with a riding crop. While fully clothed! I'm sure Honoria would find that Madeline squeals and yelps in a most satisfactory manner.

I could either see Maddy being all expectedly sappy and granola, as described hilariously here, or being a secret dominatrix. A sappy dominatrix. Because it would be funny.

I kept trying to envision Madeline and Honoria and realized that I can't see them as anyone but Virginia Woolf (sorry, Virginia) and Vita Sackville-West, sort of, having some kind of hilariously OTT Orlando-style affair. I can hear the series' Madeline lisping, I have found my mate. It is the moor! I am nature's bride! And Honoria riding up on a hunt, and Madeline crying, "I'm dead, sir!" with an entire pack of beagles swarming around them curiously.

Also, Florence's intellectual bent makes me think that she wants somebody closer to her equal. She gets off on power games like most Wodehouse ladies, but she really does seem disappointed that Bertie just isn't up to Nietzsche. I see her as the kind of controlling person who wants to have plenty of submissive people around, so that she always has the option to walk over them at will, but is ultimately bored and unhappy without someone who she can see as an equal or a challenge. IDK, she might do well in an epic ho-yay feud with somebody like Stiffy? For some reason I can see her having a vicious, lifelong, totally nonsexual professional rivalry with Rosie M Banks, and in her middle/later years, realizing that this relationship is actually more important to her, emotionally, than her marriage with whatever browbeaten Drone she ended up with and enjoyed molding for all those decades.

Hilda is not BBC only. She appeared in "The Mating Season". Madeline visited her to help her through a streak of broken heart. Hilda had temporarily ended her engagement, because the man had dared to hog a tennis match when they played a mixed double together. It was really dramatical. She also promised Bertie to plead his case with Madeline, because she seems not too impressed with Gussie.
However, yay for lesbian Wodehouse women, but Madeline just hurts my mind. Since reading this my brain screams soppy poetry about alabaster breasts at me.

I, TOO, NEED THIS LIKE BREATHING. There's this moment in the musical where Maddy says she's frightened and I could've sworn it was Honoria singing, "Then take hold of my arm." Apparently it's Gussie singing it, but I prefer it my way.
