If any of you Region 1 folk are interested, Amazon's having a British dvd sale.

The new(ish) repackaging of the complete Jeeves & Wooster is $33.49.
Amazon UK has the Region 2 (with the white cover) for £14.98.

I have the slightly older R2 version with the black cover and it was superior to the much older R1 A&E version I had, so I'm guessing the new version of the R2 is still >> the new version of the R1. But, whichever floats your boat, they both seem to be on sale.

Plus, there's almost 800 items listed on Amazon's Brit sale page, so there might be something there worth splurging on.

A lottery win would come in handy right now. Thanks for the heads up, though.

I know it's still not *cheap*, but:
Deep Discount DVD has Jeeves And Wooster: The Complete Collection (Region 1) for $26.99 and free shipping.

Even with the slight price increase of a few pounds, Amazon.uk still has the best price on the Region 2 version, which has English subtitles.

I have my lottery ticket for this week all primed and ready to win. Mind you, it hasn't worked yet in 30 years, but hope springs eternal. ;-)

I bought the old R1 box VERY shortly before the new, slimmer one came out. *looks at it to her right* I love you, but...

*quietly waits for BluRay*

Darn. The price of the UK version (which has English subtitles; the US version does not) was £11.87 up until a day or two ago. Happily I'm getting a copy a friend didn't need.

BTW, if anyone needs a program to make your computer DVD region-free, I have one that's worked fine.

And here's a page with most of the known hacks/codes to turn standalone DVD players into region-free: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks
