Afternoon all!
Pointed here by the wonderful purple_pen I thought I'd make a post for all you lovely people.
On friday night Miss_Meow_Mix and myself went to a musical production of Jeeves and Wooster entitled, "By Jeeves!" It was wonderful, funny and just...very well done! The characters were spot on...except maybe for Jeeves (I'm used to Stephen Fry's colourful facial expressions and tones...were as this guy was rather miserable) Gussie especially was exactly as he is portraied in the tv series o.o twas rather spooky! Anyhoo, heres a photo I nabbed during the interval.

I am also here, rather shamefully, to 'pimp', if you will, Miss_Meow_Mix's and my own personal J&W community where we will make our posts about J&W the musical, books, caps from the tv etcetc. I myself am a very picture orientated journaler and I'm sure the comm will become so aswell. Miss_Meow_Mix has also promised to post scans of the program from By Jeeves on there shortly.
Also it will be a place were photos of us in our J&W costumes will go.

Hope some of you can join, having looked around I can say I adore this community and I hope we can all share our love of J&W :D

Soupy Twist and all that jazz.

So tell us more about the music from the show. Was it up to the standard of the music from the Granada TV series (http://www.hatsharpening.com/j&w/music.php)?

I'll be boringly predictable and ask: was it slashy? :)

Ooh, I heart By Jeeves! Was this a local production? I love the 1996 London cast; Steven Pacey made such a wonderful Bertie... as (GASP!) good as Hugh, I'd say, even though the series and the musical are very, very different. Who was in the cast? (And are there bootlegs? *g*))

I made an informational page about By Jeeves, but never put it up; I'm surprised to see [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir members that haven't heard about it; it's kinda prompting me to go ahead and upload the damn thing.

And yes, guys, it's actually somewhat slashy -- the song, "What Have You Got To Say, Jeeves" is slash itself. It really is. This sexy fight song where Bertie rails on Jeeves for not getting him out of the latest mess, and Jeeves has to talk himself out of it in a Gilbert & Sullivan-style speed-patter. Steven Pacey's great, because by the end, he's just *growling* the song out. Funny and hot.
