Hello, my very favorite people of the internet-thingwhatsit. Here are some new and improved photos inspired by [livejournal.com profile] godsdaisiechain's bally marvelous Gentleman's Personal Djinn series (I really wasn't happy with my first attempt). I have been trying out different photo editing techniques to imitate black and white, sepia, and hand colored photos. Do you have advice or suggestions from your superior knowledge of things 1920s and 1930s about what I should be doing with color, graininess, exposure, contrast, etc. or advice of good websites to consult on the topic?

My setup is 1/6 scale action figures, a bunch of props that I made or purchased on ebay while well beneath the surface, an entry level DSLR (Nikon D40 with an ancient glass macro lens and a totally terrible kit lens, and all dreams of auto-focus are dead and blurried) and for the most part natural outdoor light. ("What ho neighbors, nothing to see here!") Also a brokenish tripod and some bits of white cardboard acting as reflectors. Totally profesh, in other words. So, anyway, here are some photos and variations. In addition to editing for color/effects (and the occasional cosmic background), I've tried to get rid of the obvious joints on the figures and sometimes I've poked a bit at Jeeves' dial, raising the eyebrow 1/8 of an inch and whatnot.

Jeeves has clearly been spending some time shrimping, I mean, peruse his delish physique. Ahem.

The floor is wavy because reality is warping around the interdimensional hotness of Jeeves in harem pants, and not because I threw down the rug and took the photo on my overgrown lawn. Here is the sepia version of the above for comparison.

Here is Jeeves in a seductive pose. (The dog McIntosh is unimpressed.)

(Grainy black and white version of the same - too much graininess on that, I think.)

Alternative heliotrope harem pant with fetching overskirt thing. I suspect Jeeves purloined the item from that Jasmin beazle from Aladdin. It's quite impressive that he managed to acquire polyester track pants so early in the century.

And here is Jeeves taking Bertie on a magic carpet (err, mousepad) ride. Bertie is having to hang on for dear life. I don't think he minds.

UPDATE: I took/edited a couple more
Yes, I really did spend my afternoon making tiny throw pillows.

Attempt at flying cow creamer edit (surprisingly difficult to mentally picture and carry out ...)

Hey... so, I so totally want to take a little 'detail' of the bottom for Djeeves. Sorry I have been awol. Would you be able to grant your blessing to the little details I made of your big pics? I felt bally well certain that they needed to be used a few times apiece.
