Lost fic: Blind Bertie?

Tally ho, dear comrades!

I'm taking a break from my hibernation to ask about a multi-chapter fic I remember reading a few years ago. It started off with Bertie getting a rather sudden illness/condition that resulted in him going blind. In retrospect, I think the doctor even had to take his eyes out (dear god, I do hope I'm not making this up). A lot of angstiness ensues, but Jeeves stays devotedly by his side and makes him accept his fate and learn to live with it.

Clues, anyone?

Apart from that, I would like some recommendations on similar Jooster fics where Bertie is actually behaving solemnly/competently in contrast to his usual self. To be short, I'd appreciate angsty plots, with suicide attempt or something of the kind. Ignore my dark fixations, if you please. :D

I wrote a very angsty mini-series (it has a major character death, so if you don't like that, don't read it), but it does have a competent, thoughtful Bertie taking care of a very ill Jeeves.

What about that sort of redemption-y piece (it's in many parts-- but really quite moving. I have only seen it on LJ, though) where Bertie goes to work for Jeeves after the war?

Hmm... I'm always delighted to read competent!Bertie, but I'm not sure I like complete role reversals. Still, it sounds interesting to me - have you got the link for it?

I started reading it now, and I'm totally hooked! It's fantastic :D I'm all right with this plot because Jeeves did actually serve Bertie in the past and seems to view him as he did before.

I write competent!Bertie fairly often, but not role-reversals in the sense that godsdaisiechain mentions. Jeeves and the Dangerous Discovery is definitely competent!Bertie, but doesn't go anywhere near role-reversal. (Just so ya know)
