What ho friends! Just a couple of things to excite and amuse.

First of all, I came across the following piece of news today - BBC to film Blandings: . I'm not sure how I feel about the casting but will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Secondly, last week I was in the singularly fortunate position of being off work and by the seaside on the south coast of England. With my friends, I stopped in at a café for lunch that was called "Woosters". I was just attracted by the name as something that would make me quietly smile to myself but oh no, it's much better than that.

I had the Wooster's Club and very good it was too. One friend had Madeleine's tuna melt and said it was equally good. We were all disappointed that Fink Nottle's Fancy was a, not spelt Fink-Nottle's Fancy (#pedants) and b, that it contained no newts.

I wonder what the percentage of people is who walk into that cafe and have no idea what the names are all about. :)

FinkE Nottle. The horror. On the other hand, I love Blandings and have a good opinion of the BBC. I'll hope for best.
PS Is there an lj community for Blandings, or Wodehouse in general?

Oh! By the seaside on the south coast of England... where, exactly? I'm going to England (for only the third time in my life) in a couple of weeks and we'll be in the South-West, near Bath. Our days might be packed, but if we end up near that place I'd hate to miss it! :)

Ah, [livejournal.com profile] eor just looked it up - not really near where we're going to be staying, which is Bradford-on-Avon, actually.

The Jeeves Special sounds delicious. Also I hope that the Auntie's Welsh Rarebit is Dahlia approved and not Agatha. The Agatha version would probably give me heartburn. :P
