Weekly Drabble Challenge
Mar. 23rd, 2012 07:43 pmRules: (short and sweet)
1) A drabble is, by definition, a 100-word story therefore all responses should be 100 words exactly, no exceptions.
2) You may also choose to respond to this challenge with a five-minute sketch.
3) PLEASE put the word DRABBLE at the top of your post. That way people can easily spot the drabbles in amongst any reader comments they receive.
RATING: I don't think this should be limited so reader beware that they could be any rating (you could put it in the subject line if you feel it needs it)

PLEASE try to remember to make each drabble a comment in response to the original post. That way, if the comments start to collapse, the drabbles themselves should remain visible. Thanks.
This week's prompt is:
Seven Random Words
trifle
kidnap
thirst
shadows
meteor
censor
heart
Use these words literally, obliquely, figuratively or not at all. Use one as a jumping pont, base a drabble entirely around one word or use all 7 in one story. The choice is yours!

Date: 2012-03-24 12:20 pm (UTC)It was the merest trifle. I've been kidnapped before, and by beazels intent on matrimony, which is much more frightening. Still, my thirst was getting pretty bad and the shadows in the cave were getting pretty long and there was nothing to cheer me up but the blazing path of a single meteor visible through the mouth. Apparently that's what a shooting star is properly called. It's the sort of thing Jeeves knows, and when he finally arrived, I was glad he was alone and there was no need to censor any expression of the joy that filled my heart.

Date: 2012-03-25 07:33 am (UTC)If one would have a sucessful career in domestic service, one learns quite early on to censor oneself. So it was with myself. It would not do for a valet to suggest that he considers his employer's daughter a harpy and a menace to society, or his personal habits beneath contempt. One certainly could not suggest that gentleman
perform unmentionable acts upon himself, however much one might wish to.
Now, however, the words that went unspoken were these: how dear, how lovely, how beloved was my young master and how much more my silence pressed on me than ever before.

Date: 2012-03-25 10:17 am (UTC)My first instinct was to cast about for the sound of Bertram's distant heartbeat, but they had already removed him from the house. Though I dispatched my assailants swiftly, I was too late. I required aid, and it was urgent that I report what I'd learned.
If I would rescue him, I had to curb my fury and wait. I would find him. I'd save him.
Keeping to the shadows, I ran.
