Excuse me for a maybe silly question, but I wondered, what happened with JWfics archieve? Is it closed for some time or forever?

It's not silly at all. [livejournal.com profile] thirstyrobot started the archive on Delicious a long time ago. Many of us helped tag stories, videos and art, but we never quite finished.

I remember reading a while back that Delicious was no longer going to be available. So that means our list of tags for Indeed Sir is no longer available. Stories were never actually stored there; we just posted links and tags so people would be able to find them.

(If anyone who helped with the tagging or knows what went on with Delicious can add anything, please feel free. My memory could be a bit fuzzy.)

Maybe we need another way to archive our stories. A lot of people have done so at AO3, I think, but other than that, we don't have a real archive anymore.

What's nice, though, is that our tag list on Indeed Sir is very comprehensive. You can even search by author (or the poster) by using the filter on the top of the page.

Delicious itself is fine. The site was bought by a new company, and they've been making some changes, so the layout is currently in an experimental phase and not all the features are working. But according to their news posts, they're paying attention to feedback and will have things on track again shortly.

Oh, that's very good news! I haven't looked at Delicious in a long time, but I knew something was up with it.

Maybe that will mean our tags won't completely disappear.

Thanks for the information; I appreciate it.

I was under the impression that the owner of the JWfics tags would have to re-register?

I'm not sure - did they confirm that they were okay with the transfer? (New owners = new terms of service = everyone has to reconfirm that they agree.) If not, then I think the deadline for that has passed.

...Although it couldn't hurt to email Delicious and ask if the account could be restored, just in case the data is still there somewhere.

I honestly haven't a clue on the details.

Are they going to reinstate all the tags they deleted though? I know that with my personal bookmarks they deleted probably 80% of them and definitely anything with a / in it.

They aren't displaying all the tags on people's account pages for some technical reason to do with being afraid of overloading their servers, but they weren't deleted. It's one of the things they're working on, along with the / issue.

You're probably better following their blog for the status of specific things, though! I'm just repeating what I read there, and what I can see by poking around my own account.

I'm getting a "the link could not be found" page for that link.

Oh gosh, yes, please, export everything you can if you can still get to it. I thought I'd done what I was supposed to to keep it going, but clearly something (me? them? argh no idea) screwed up. I have a support request in to Avos (the people taking over) but all I got was an automated email so far saying old data was still with Yahoo and they are "investigating methods" to recover bookmarks.

If nothing else, dump everything you can get in a text file, send it to me (ringthemissus at gmail.com) and I will reconstruct the damn thing (and also be insanely amazingly grateful to you forever). And then I'll hand over the reins to someone who is still active in the fandom.

Hah, apparently in my extreme panic I failed to read all the relevant information. As far as I'm concerned you would be welcome to start a new one, but you shouldn't have to do all the work re-creating it by yourself, if that's what has to happen. Anyway, let me know.

Sweet, I'm so glad it's at least backed up! <3 That's weird that it's still working for you because if it should work for anyone it should work for me and I can't even log in. But oh what lucky weirdness.

Don't knock yourself out just yet rebuilding the tags because I think they may yet come up with a solution (because as far I know of anything I did, it's a problem on their end, though of course I could have screwed up somewhere), as I seriously doubt we are in this boat alone.

If you can expand all the tags and grab the list from the side, that would make it easier if it does have to be reconstructed, or I am happy to go through screenshots and apply the right tags to the right things if that's what has to happen.

Anyhow, I'll watch my email and their blog for any answers or quick fixes and keep updated. Let me know if there is any way I can help you and also THANK YOU. xxxx

I see you and my dear Robot have chatted. I wish you all kinds of luck, and if you think you want help, just PM me. I can tag like nobody's business. I don't write in this fandom too much anymore, but I still want to see it thrive.

If delicious continues being unreliable, or fail, I wouldn't mind sponsoring a Pinboard account - the import from delicious is super easy, and they love fans (http://blog.pinboard.in/2011/10/the_fans_are_all_right/). Let me know if you're interested!
