I've been wrestling with the idea of fic setting Bertie as a suriviour of the trenches for a long time now ( I blame Dorothy L. Sayers), but it's not going anywhere fast.

Basically I'm hoping that someone will have written something similar and it may prompt the plot bunnies to co-operate. So are there any fics out there linked to the First World War?

Someone did mention one in a discussion about Armstice day (Green Ice, I think it was called), but when the link didn't work. Thank you in advanced for your help.

Hmm. I don't think I've seen WW1 references, but some writers have referred to WW2 in their stories. A couple of writers have written very long fics specifically dealing with WW2, as well.

I'll look around. I'm curious about this.

I know there is a fic out there where Bertie has amnesia after becoming a hero of WWI but all of his friends and family want to keep it that way yet Jeeves finds out and trys to help. If I find it I will link otherwise I hope someone else remembers. Also here is a few more under the site's Delicious recs http://www.delicious.com/jwfics/WWI

Email please

Actually - I started one on Bertie in the trenches - going pretty nutso - but coudn't quite find the finish. If you want the 'ugly draft' bit send me an addy that works for you and I'll send back.

Please feel free to use or ignore bits as suits - as I'm not going to take it anywhere. (No time - no brain)

I believe [livejournal.com profile] dark_eyed_seer's Bedlam series mentions him serving in WWI. I know at one point she had planned on writing a big Bertie Epic telling the whole story, but it's been a while since she's been active, so I don't know if she plans to complete it.

So if you don't mind Bertie being accidentally committed and like the sound of a battalion of aunts coming to save him, and eventually tell Jeeves a bit of what happened, here's Bedlam:

It's sequel, Ether:

And Delirium, the sequel to Ether, but this is the only part she's posted.

Ah, my mistake. WWI isn't mentioned until Ether, but you may not get Ether without reading Bedlam first.

Dark-eyed seer also has a three-part story called "Time and Again", which takes place just after the bike ride from "Right Ho, Jeeves." The third part has Bertie recalling his days as a soldier, this time without the amnesia. You can access it under dark-eyed seer's fanfiction tag.

"The Long Long Trail" by juliacarmen is one of my all-time favorite Jooster stories, although like the above fics this also takes place during WWII rather than I. Still, I recommend it to anyone and everyone who will listen. Should definitely be in the archives, unless someone else has a link.
