I am a failure of a human being. Or at least a failure of a comm writer. I went through three different plots for my Jooster educational tour fic, made notes, wrote snippets, and then scrapped them all in dislike. In frustration I wrote a drabble (months ago) on what I thought would *really* happen if Jeeves and Bertie went to Tucson in the summer. And since none of my planned plots worked out, I guiltily offer up that drabble instead.
Title: The Off-Season
Author: Blackletter
Summary: You really don’t want to visit Tucson in summer. Really.
Rating: G
Words: 100 of 'em
Stepping out of the train was like walking into a building on fire. I blinked in the bright white light gleaming off stucco buildings and pale sand. I was sure my skin was withering and peeling as every drop of moisture was whisked away by the dry air. I glanced at Jeeves, who seemed miraculously untouched by the inferno, despite his black clothes. Nevertheless, even his stoicism couldn’t stop beads of sweat from slipping down his brow.
“Jeeves, where’s this train going?”
“California, sir.”
“Is California cooler than this?”
“Parts of it, sir.”
“Right. Back on the train it is.”
