I merely bring this up because no one is ever on the meme, and I'd hate for the OP to miss out on their un-beta'd, written before work fisting.

I get everything that gets posted there into my inbox, but I think a lot of people haven't flagged the entry and so things just don't get seen. This is sad because more activity would be tons of fun.

Of course, doing the whole thing differently, so that new things were constantly popping up in the community and it would show on people's flists, would probably help some in reminding folks it's there.

I'd be cool with that. I just think that stuffing all this stuff into one entry that nobody ever sees unless they go looking for it is a serious visibility problem.

Doesn't take anything at all to start one. Prop one up and post the resulting comm here in [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir!

I would join this community!

One wonders if all that's necessary to improve ohidosay would be tags. I feel like in the beginning it was a good enough idea to just "oh, comment here" but there was such an unexpected sexplosion in there that caused the visibility issue. Most other communities I've seen have separate posts with tags and such depending on the kink. If we could organize the meme like that, would that work?

I'm not really sure how other comms organize these things. All I know is that unless you're actually tracking the post, you never see anything. Tags might be one way to handle it, but there would still need to be a way for people to know when a fresh prompt or fill was posted, and that's just not working very well for most people at the moment, considering the small number of comments any given fill tends to elicit.

In part, I think it would be really good for the authors if there was some way for folks to know right away when a prompt was filled. Even when they're anonymous, authors want folks to read their stuff. I'm just not sure how to handle both the anonymity of the concept and the need for clear notification when something gets posted.

Neither am I. Personally, I almost never post anonymously there, and I know there's a small selection of others who really don't care if anyone sees what kind of porn we're writing or reading, but apparently some do and one must respect that, I s'pose. Sure does make life a little more difficult though...
...well, not "life" but navigating that meme in particular...

Agreed. I don't care if my name is on it -- that's why I have my mice LJ, for all the ficcings. I'm proud of my smut dammit! :D But yeah, some people prefer anon, and I don't have a problem with that either, it's just making a technical difficulty with the whole "finding of fics" thingummy.

Perhaps there could be a tag for filled or unfilled prompts, and the author of the prompt or fill could alter the tags as necessary? It still wouldn't alert everyone else but it might make separation easier.

Or, one could keep the prompts on ohidosay and may a separate comm for the filled ones? That way if you joined the comm you could see the fillers come up as a new tagged post, with the corresponding prompts mentioned?

The Brain is trying to work on this...

I think this might call for a post with some initial brainstorming here in [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir about potential solutions that folks can live with. It does deserve a post of its own, I think.

*stares, drooling and open-mouthed* Oh, yum. Oh, yummy yummy yum. Thank you for that. *tries to sit a little straighter, but fails* We should chain 'em to that community and make 'em work in there for good.

To be fair to myself, I've started like nine different prompts on there and have finished... none. I just need to find some me time and porn it up, but that's my problem.
