There's a writing analysis site that offers a chance for you to cut and paste some of your text into a box and have it compared to the writer you most closely match. I pasted in the first page or so of my most recent fic for the community here and got this result.

I write like
P. G. Wodehouse

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Nice. I've seen this going through my Flist. I got the same result for my Jooster fics. For my regular writing, apparently I am Stephen King.

I'm Wodehouse in fic and King in regular writing, too. But then I pasted in some Neil Gaiman, and he apparently writes like Ray Bradbury. Laurie R. King writes like H.P. Lovecraft. Terry Pratchett writes like Daniel Defoe. Roald Dahl writes like Charles Dickens. Stephen King writes like Margaret Atwood. And Wodehouse writes like Wodehouse.

I apparently write like Chuck Palahniuk. Or, if I put in a few paragraphs of my last assignment comparing the health systems of Austria and the Czech Republic, H. P. Lovecraft.

one of my House fics gets Stephen King, although the most horrifying thing in it is House slipping on wet pavement and yelling "goddamnit".
my Jeeves and Bertie fics get Wodehouse of course. I do think this program recognizes Bertie-isms like "bally" and "have a go at" and "rather rummy".

Alarme!
I write like Wodehouse if I keep in the 'jeeves' and 'bertie' mentions, and like Conan Doyle without, so I think it takes note of the names as well as the other text.
If that makes sense..?
xx

I got that too... for one of my J&W fics, anyway. I tried a short story and it told me I wrote like Poe. Which is rubbish...

This is so full of win. Though apparently I write emails like James Joyce, livejournal posts like Stephen King, and depending on the story, Margaret Atwood or Dan Brown. No wonder people think I'm silly. Brilliant fun!

*shrugs* Though it did recognize the one J&W ficlet I ever wrote as sort of Wodehousian...

Margaret Atwood's stuff is very lyrical and interesting. The Handmaid's Tale and The Blind Assassin.

As to the main discussion, I write like Nabakov when I'm doing a fairytale, and like Gaiman when I write slightly silly '30s detective fiction.
