So I was wondering, given the spate of "I'm looking for this one fic" or "rec something" posts lately, that maybe we, as a community, could have a sort of fic potluck (h/t
yaspis for the idea) where you (or anyone who wants to join in) could post a link or two to a fic that you feel deserves some attention or is one you happened to re-read recently or had a particular scene that you enjoyed--with a couple of notes explaining why you're--to extend the metaphor--bringing the fic to the party. It's not necessarily that you'd have to link to your OMG favorite fic of all time or anything, and you may decide to link one of your own fics, but it could be anything. So, um, anyone think it's a good idea?

Date: 2009-08-28 04:21 pm (UTC)Your idea, sans the personal commentary bit, reminds me rather of the suggestion that's been brought up lately, and which I wish would come to some fruition, of creating a usable fanfiction catalogue, - if only in the form of authorship tags, - so all the community-posted and off-linked stories would be easier to find and not go missing.
Besides, there is a couple of tagged general recommendation threads already.

Date: 2009-08-29 02:07 am (UTC)And oh, yes! Everything everywhere that can be laid hands on. Yuletide, ffnet (even the horrifying ones), random websites (I have found strange old things from the 90s in the course of my "travels"), other challenge-fests, etc. I'm starting by just paging through the indeedsir backlog but plan for Entirety of Internets sort of thing. I'm also including Psmith stuff for now, as until recently indeedsir was the only place anyone posted it, but am on the fence about RPS and other Fry-Laurie efforts.
And I have now made the more organised portions of it public at jwfics (http://delicious.com/jwfics) if you want to peek or are considering the lending of any limbs. :)
