Apr. 11th, 2009 08:40 pm Hullo all :)
Went to the Sydney Royal Easter Show yesterday (in Sydney, where else? Lol) and I stumbled across a pavilion that was made up of all sorts of clothing stalls, some good, most bad. I took a walk around and there, in an almost customerless corner, lay a hat stall.
And not just any hat stall, but a stall selling hats that come from a reputable company called Stanton (webby www.stantonhats.com) and therein lay the best hats. Trilby hats, pork pies, cowboy hats (many varieties), toppers and, nearly untouched in one corner, bowlers. Bowlers!!! Better yet, they had small ones!!!
And so I bought one. I am finally in possession of a gorgeous black bowler hat that fits my rather small head beautifully.
I got home, took off my trilby that I purchased earlier in the day (and adore), put down my baseball cap that I wore that morning (and also adore) and popped the bowler on my very heady-head. Perfect. I walked out into the living room and my brother said to me...
"Way to go, Jeeves."
Fantastic. Largely because he's never read or seen anything of Jeeves and Wooster, lol. Mind, I couldn't be remotely Jeevesian even if I grew the necessary extra foot and a half, lol.
I shall post pics when I get them.

Date: 2009-04-11 03:19 pm (UTC)Oh, to have been at that hat stall! Sounds like hatty heaven.
I have to admit, I would've gone for a topper myself, but the bowler would have been next on my list!

Date: 2009-04-11 10:13 pm (UTC)(Mine'd have cost 35 or 55 pounds more if I'd bought it from the Sherlock Holmes museum gift shop - wasn't expeting to see hats there! - rather than the street. It still amazes me that I randomly came across one on a little table with miscellaneous trinkets. What luck!)

Date: 2009-04-12 01:19 am (UTC)What luck indeed! Amazing the things one can find amid miscellaneous trinkets. Found some lovely things that way.
