1. No, we cannot go back to the old layout. I already deleted the code before I started making the new one.



2. I am only taking feedback on the colours, at this juncture.



3. The ad settings have been changed to show fairly benign categories (i.e. no celebrities, no beauty, no shopping, etc). However, if you have firefox and a little bit of know-how, here is a really quite good ad-blocking add-on for firefox.

5. If the font sizes are too big for you, press ctrl and the - key on your keyboard to shrink the text. There are members with vision problems here, so the text is going to stay on the biggish side.

1. I'm going to make a wider pinstripe for the bg. This will take a little bit, as my hands are shaking a little from a slight overdose of caffeine.


2. Making a header requires CSS, and LJ is tetchy about that.


3. You guys, just make an icon and suggest it! Sillies. XD I can give you the colour codes, just ask.

I've been watching the theme change with some measure of glee. I miss the old one, but I think I like this not-quite-lavender (I'd say heather, but heather mixture has flecks of purple and grey, so I don't know what shade to call this) pinstripes. Reminds me of the DVD box set where they use Bertie's suit from the pertinent season as the background.

The red one was good, too, actually. But this one feels more comfy.

I'm so glad you like it! I was hesitant to use the violet initially (I call it 'dusky violet' or 'moth violet'), but ink_n_imp let me know that violet was used in Art Deco, and so I decided to go ahead and use a nice muted one. I'm probably going to paint my new flat these colours.

I have to agree. The text size and the color is fine, and pinstripes would be a great idea for the sides: they're very cute. But not for the text field. I have a lot of trouble reading this, and it would kind of suck to be stuck doing ?style=mine every time I read a fic.

Okay, that's a little insulting. If you didn't like something, tell me to my face, please. I'm not immature, I've been taking critique from everyone all day. I can handle one more comment.

It helps when I get feedback from you guys--because I'm doing this with the members in mind, and I want it to be nice-looking for everyone. I don't want people just deciding they don't like what I've done, and then not tell me so. I asked for critique--that means I want critique. :(

I posted that comment so people who were complaining would shut up about it. It's a community layout, and if you don't like it, view it in your own style. It's not a big deal.

i usually view everything in my own style, so i shouldn't really get a vote, but i just wanted to say that i actually really like the pinstripes. :D but then, i'm a sucker for purple.

if i were to change anything, i'd add a header and maybe change the default icon's tint to match.

No, the pinstripes are grey. The header text and links are supposed to be a dusky dark violet.

The colour is good, but the pinstripes make the reading quite difficult and uncomfortable (with that font type at least). A pity, because the layout is really beautiful.

I agree with waqaychay, only things I'd change is perhaps adding a header and matching the default icon to the colour scheme.

Well, I adore it, and seeing as I'm up for president in the 'rubbishest eyesight ever'-club and have no trouble reading it whatsoever (with glasses on nose, mind), I'm really hoping it'll stay pinstripey, it's such a nice touch. Makes me think of Jeeves' trousers <3

I actually went back and widened the pinstripes. I have four versions, including one that ended up glitching prettily.
