What ho! Another "it's so canon!" moment.
This one comes C.O.
tootsiemuppet -- her internet is on the fritz and I am posting in her stead.
From Thank You, Jeeves:
(to Pauline:)"Mr Wooster is an agreeable young gentleman, but I would describe him as essentially one of Nature's bachelors."
Yes, I think we've heard that euphemism before ^^
Others:
"I was at school with Bertie Wooster," said Chuffy. "I like to think of it. At private school and also at Eton and after that at Oxford. He was loved by everybody."
*snerk*
"The attitude of fellows towards finding girls in their bedroom shortly after midnight varies. Some like it. Some don't. I didn't."
"one of Nature's bachelors". Right. Got it. ^_~
'Your own idea?'
'No, Jeeves's.'
I could not restrain a wistful sigh.
'Jeeves is a wonder.'
I'm sure he is.

"The whole Internet goes down on her."
"She must be exhausted."
Now, as to the post which we're commenting on, though - Thanks to you I've now started reading "Thank You, Jeeves," which I'd been resisting. But it's so damn slashy even in the beginning. Jeeves gives notice and Bertie's all This parting of the ways with Jeeves had made me feel a bit as if I'd just stepped on a bomb and was trying to piece myself together again in a bleak world... Poor thing. *pets Bertie* And what's with Jeeves taking a job in the country even though he doesn't like the country? I thought it was obviously to be near Bertie and have the chance to make it up.

ecstatichappyunobtrusively glad at being able to stay with Bertie, but without the banjolele. All's well as ends well and Robert's your mater's frater, so to speak. He's a smart man, is our Jeeves.

Date: 2005-01-28 03:56 pm (UTC)Tootsiemuppet... I have always had a thing for that recurring description of Bertie as "slender and willowy". It makes him sound like the idea love for Jeeves. ;D

Date: 2005-01-28 03:40 am (UTC)I still can't get over it. *happy sigh* "One of Nature's bachelors", indeed. It also amuses me that Jeeves says it. Like he's picking up on something that Bertie's completely oblivious to himself.
La! And wanting to sing "What Is This Thing Called Love?" to Jeeves when Chuffy's "stolen" him away.
Have I ever mentioned I love Plum? Because I really rather do.

Date: 2005-01-28 02:32 pm (UTC)I wonder if Bertie were gay, if he'd even realise it himself. Jeeves, on the other hand, WOULD realise it. Jeeves is cautious, he'd never say or insinuate anything if he didn't believe it. Bertie's only 24, there's plenty of opportunity for him to still fall in love, yet Jeeves in all his omniscience doesn't put much faith in that. You have to wonder if he's picking up on something.
Ahh, Plum. A fangirl's dream.
