I was wondering... is there anybody on the list who badly wants to set up a webpage for Jeeves and Wooster stories, but can't afford the charge? Just wanted to put out there that I'd be willing to sponsor a page, but I know zero about designing or maintaining one.

(and if anybody had LOTS of extra time... I'd love a page for my photos! But that's a separate topic. *G*)

Oh! And on one of the links given earlier for photos to make icons out of, there was an article on the TV series where they were comparing Wooster and Jeeves to other famous pairs, such as Kirk and Spock, and Holmes and Watson. That's interesting... weren't Spock/Kirk the original slash pair? *G* And Holmes/Watson... well, that goes without saying....! *L*! Guess that just confirms that we're on the right track!

[contimplates] I know basics about design and manitainance, and I'm actually learning how to make proper webpages 'n' stuff for school. After the x-mas break, I'd be happy as a clam to aide you in anyway with this photo thing.

Or anything else for that matter. I have no lifelots of time to kill. ^^ Whee.

Hey, if you're still willing to sponser, we could make.. like a J/W database-like thing or something. Hmmm... [plots]

I like the idea of a general archive for J/W stories. It's hard sometimes finding the stories, and reading through past LJ postings in search of "that one story, by...uh, I forget...where Jeeves...um, there was something about a turkey costume?"1 can get real old. Something like the Automated Archive (http://www.netspace.org/~shalott/archive/) would make life a lot easier for the web-site maintainer. I haven't tried to set this up myself, but I've been an "end-user" for several fandoms that use it, and it's a lot easier than emailing a story to someone who may or may not have the time to add it.

1 Before anyone asks, I don't think anyone's written this story. On the other hand, if anyone wants to, be my guest.

I'm not too good on the designing front either, but corking idea and I hope someone can do it!
I'd love it if we could make an Indeedsir archive... *beams*

And Holmes/Watson... well, that goes without saying....!
HEEHEE, that's brilliant considering that Hugh and Stephen will be playing Holmes and Watson very soon.
I spy more slash.

*makes a beeline for Holmes/Watson*

Sherlock Holmes slash is amazing. It's incredibly well-written and evocative. Well worth a read or two, particularly with the new versions comming out next year (Fry/Laurie and Everett, respectively).

Try here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=crack_van&keyword=Sherlock+Holmes+Fanfic+Recs&filter=all), if you're short on fics.

Ta muchly! I think I will wait until the Fry/Laurie version is out before digging into the fic, but that link will come in handy.

I have absolute scads of webspace and nothing to squander it on. It would be my pleasure to archive.

I can also design, but not very well.

La, I can't do anything but I was thinking about the idea yesterday (We could make a fanART section as well)

Haha, we ARE on the right track! Yay for slashity!

I just want to seoncd the suggestion of an automated archive, much easier to maintain. If I had even the faintest idea of how to run a webpage, I'd offer, but sadly, no.

Well, I have been thinking about offering for the last couple of weeks, but it sounds like this is well underway. I don't really have time - am picking away very very slowly on a website just trying to archive all [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's writings. (Daegaer Rules The Net) (http://daegaer.rulesthe.net/). I've got the space and the basic knowledge of how to make php pages work (although I'm not that pleased with the look of the Daegaer pages as yet), but [livejournal.com profile] eor doesn't want to open up his server, so probably won't install the Automated Archive thingy (I'm guessing, without looking at it), which would mean emailing all new stories to me and waiting until I had time. Probably stretching myself thinner at the moment is not a good idea.

After glancing at the Automated Archiver my guess it it's a security nightmare, but I'm going to ask [livejournal.com profile] eor to look at it and let me know.

Maybe we should contribute to Slash Cotillian, since they've already archived so many stories there?

We'll have to ask for permission. I'd love to archive the fanart as well.
