Nov. 9th, 2007 09:49 pmHello all, how are you?
In all your respective areas in all respective situations I hope all is well or at least tolerable.
Does anyone know of any fics revolving around the episode "Jeeves the Matchmaker" of the second series? I was thinking of writing one of my own, involving adoption of a kid (between Jeeves and Bertie of course) and was just wondering if someone had beat me to it. I suspect someone has, which won't really hinder my efforts but am curious about nonetheless.
I am still working on my story "None the Wooster" (if anyone recognizes the title) but have been experiencing the absolute WORST writer's block EVER.
If capitalizing isn't enough I'll say this to make it even more terribly and hopelessly clear, I haven't written a single word in weeks and weeks!
I'm hoping a new story on the side will rekindled whatever it is that kindles in a writer's mind.
If it wasn't official before (and I know all you fine people, the writers at least, can relate to this) its official now: WRITER'S BLOCK IS THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD!
Thank you for your time, let me know if anyone knows of such a fic. Cheers.

Date: 2007-11-10 07:21 am (UTC)I'm working on getting past this particular block as soon as possible, no worries.
Actually, the thing I feel worst about is letting people down (readers) so I have that as a motivator.
Thanks for your sympathy, its nice of you.
How do you get over writer's block?

Date: 2007-11-10 10:43 am (UTC)Don't worry about writer's block. It may be frustrating, but it will go away eventually. It may be better if you don't try to force it, because that will just annoy you and make it hard to concentrate. Perhaps you could interest yourself in other creative things, such as playing chess or doing different and unusual crosswords, not like the usual kind. Someone gave me a book of different types of crosswords, some of which make me think in different ways, and apply logic in different ways. I am really enjoying them. :-)

Date: 2007-11-10 03:48 pm (UTC)I really don't know an awful lot about adoption, especially during that time, though Wodehouse wasn't exactly a real time, exactly. One thing is I doubt they did such extensive screening for parents back then, they cared about children sure, but exclusive human rights, for any group, wasn't as big a deal, maybe because there weren't loads of lawyers about threatening to sue.
And you're right about the brain exercising, just getting it moving is the first step.
Thanks very much for commenting, I really appreciate it.

Date: 2007-11-10 03:53 pm (UTC)I'm thinking of doing some research about adoption. I have no idea what orphanages were like, apart from having read Oliver Twist, but maybe they just had an overflow of children that needed homes and as long as you were dressed well they'd give you one. Maybe if Bertie wanted a child he'd have to ask a woman friend of his to accompany him there.
Your idea is good though, adopting a little boy related to Jeeves. You should write it.

Date: 2007-11-10 04:38 pm (UTC)"Bertie Changes His Mind" is in "The World of Jeeves" and is totally worth checking out if only for the Jeeves narration.
