Wodehouse Society Meeting

What ho all!

I hope this isn't too off topic... The thing is, I'm a member of the Wodehouse Society. I've only been a member for a short time, but I've decided to go to their summer meeting. It's taking place in July, in London. I was just wondering if anyone else in the comm. was a member and thinking of going too. I'd love to meet any fellow slashers there!

A slasher meet-up would be rather neat, especially considering how few we are (I believe).

I've had so many comments about this icon! I wish that I was terrific and could tell you that I know all about Catullus but I don't. I shamelessly pilfered it from spacemonkeyluvn because I liked the English translation.

You're right, a slasher meet up would be terrific. Hopefully I'll go there and if I do find any slashers then I'll report back. I'll let you know if more slash input is needed within the society! Gosh, I feel like I've infiltrated their carefully crafted structure...

What does the Catullus say? I admit I only took five weeks of Latin before dropping it like a hot pan, on account of taking Latin AND Greek at the same time as beginners courses is really difficult.


(Also, anima_mecanique is totally right. Latin + Wodehouse = supremely awesome. A lot like the mention of Wodehouse in a review-by-comic of The Areas of My Expertise (http://www.areasofmyexpertise.com/praise.html) by John Hodgman)

I agree, that is extremely awesome.

As for the Latin, I believe it translates as, "A thousand kisses and a hundred score." You probably would know better than me though, because I am a horrid fraud who doesn't know a thing about Latin. I just looked up the English translation and took a shine to it. *Blush.*

Oh, are you going to the annual cricket match at the end of this month? I'll probably be there, but as a SHSL member - I like PGW, but I'm not a society member.

I did want to go to that, but I won't be there unfortunately. It's such a shame because I'd love to see the Holmes and Plum fans get competitive! In my family, I'm the Wodehouseite and my brother is all for Conan Doyle. I like the Holmes stories, but Jeeves is my first love. ^_^
