Aug. 11th, 2004 07:07 pmPicked up copies of Laurie's "The Gun Seller" (unfortunately in Dutch) and Fry's "Making History", thankfully in English.
One afternoon in town and I return with a good fifteen books. I'm positively giddy.

Date: 2004-08-19 04:00 am (UTC)incidentally, if you like Laurie's book, you'll love Kyril Bonfiglioli. it's not too easy to find but he's a big influence on Hugh's writing.
and i LOVE your icon. i'm licking it right now.

Date: 2004-08-19 11:11 am (UTC)Thanks for the rec. I needed to go down to the library anyway, so I'll see if I can find him. And books in particular I should read?
You can lick my icon if I can lick yours... wait, that sounded suggestive, didn't it?

Date: 2004-08-19 08:55 pm (UTC)hooray for Psmith and Dorian!
what language is the Gun Seller translated into? i just read that you're in Belgium, so that would probably be...*smacks non-functioning brain*...French?
Kyril has a whole series about a detective named Charlie Mortdecai. i've read "Something Nasty in the Woodshed" and "Don't Point that Thing At Me" and they're both brilliant. i think they go in order but i don't remember the order so i guess i'm not much help. sorry about that.
and, yes, that is a little suggestive--but a mighty fair deal, nonetheless!

*writes the titles on her hand* thanks!

Date: 2004-08-20 10:13 pm (UTC)The one I was trying to find first was actually "Moab is My Washpot", but it wasn't in Hasselt, which is the biggest library I have near me. *grumbles* My list of 'To Read' books is growing quite long.

Date: 2004-08-24 09:26 pm (UTC)I was so happy to have found it. I looked it up on the computer in the library, which said it was there, but when I looked in the racks, I couldn't find it. Had to get the lady to open a special closet, which sshe did only very grudgingly. ^_^
