But it is a request! This is finals week, and I will soon be deep in the joy of reading essays about how the French pheasants were revolting or how Molly Pitcher mounted her husband's cannon and fired at the British (no, I'm not making those up, they are from actual student papers!!!!).

So, please, dear friends, help me out by answering a very different kind of discussion question, the kind I would enjoy reading and perhaps find inspiration in.

For 20 points---in your imagination---what kind of lover is Jeeves? Feel free to give examples.

(I promise, you will not be graded!)

Hmm, it's hard to imagine Jeeves being bad at *anything*, so I'd say that he's probably an excellent lover. He would be technically skilled, knowing exactly how to push his lover's buttons, and since he's also strong, he'd be able to sweep you off your feet.

I agree that he would probably be quite excellent as a lover. I can't help thinking, though, that he would have a slight tendency of spouting poetry at any given point in time. Not that a habit like that is bad, but I imagine he wouldn't be able to put a cap on it. Hee. Aw, that'd be cute.

I didn't think about that.

Well, I guess that's what a gag is for.

...-can't talk, because the images brought on by that have eaten her brain. In the best way possible.-

While exploring the archives I ran across an earlier post (http://community.livejournal.com/indeedsir/18647.html) that made the same point re: Jeeves’ fondness for quotations.
"I was merely directing your attention to [the stars], sir. Look how the floor of heaven is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold."

"Jeeves - "

"There's not the smallest orb which thou beholdest, sir, but in his motion like an angel sings, still quiring to the young-eyed cherubins."

"Jeeves - "

"Such harmony is in immortal souls. But whilst this muddy vesture of decay doth grossly close it in, we cannot hear it."

"Jeeves - "

"Sir?"

"You couldn't possibly switch it off, could you?"

"Certainly, sir, if you wish it."

"I'm not in the mood."

"Very good, sir."

"You know how one isn't, sometimes."

Like the others said, excellent. And probably very attentive to his lover, ensuring the utmost pleasure *swoons*

*giggles* French pheasants...

A skilled master, mostly top but open to variety.
In a long relationship with Bertie, probably he'd take the role of the "daddy"caring lovingly for his "boy"'s needs, spoiling him when the situation calls for it but willing to use discipline and a good spanking when necessary.
More or less the same he already has with Bertie plus the sex

He'd probably be wicked about provoking Bertie in public -- fixing his tie, brushing off lint from various items of clothing, etc. -- which would then lead to them going back to the flat/guest room at totleigh and shagging like rabbits. And while Jeeves would more likely be the dominant one, I'm sure that in instances of extreme...hem...enthusiasm on Bertie's part, there could be a change of circumstances.

dunno why but i can't imagine jeeves as a lover at all. perhaps its the avuncular quality Wodehouse has clothed him with - and
( in my mind )- so successfully..

I think I put this in my response to the Bertie/Lover question. Jeeves only struck me as a lover a few days ago, when I was watching the second season and saw the episode where we find out at the end that he has an "understanding" with the flapper-looking waitress named Mabel.

I have no idea exactly how Jeeves would chat up a woman of his social class at the time. If he were talking to a teacher like me, I guess he could start out with literature and then move to having tea to the "understanding" thing.

I think the key with Jeeves is that everything is understated. But, in bed, if I may be just a little crude like the Irish girl I am, he would be knock-out-make-a-girl-sweat-and-weep amazing. And there is no doubt that the man is well-endowed. Come on . . . we've all thought it! ;0
