Huh. Who'd have thought?

http://www.bertie-wooster.co.uk/

Awfully odd choice for the name of a fancy clothing company, considering that Bertie's fashion sense is tragic enough to warrant the frequent intervention of Jeeves...

I wonder if they sell check suits and alpine hats.

Ooh, natty.

.... though it's kind of disturbing there's a picture of a halfnaked woman under "Accesories".

But it does explain the site's name. If it had been www.reginald-jeeves.co.uk, there is no way a picture of a half-naked woman would have made it anywhere near the cambric handkerchiefs.

Oh my, how wonderful! I think it's very apropos. Bertie, after all, had excellent taste - it was only the occasional accessory to which Jeeves protested.

That said, Jeeves probably wouldn't like some of the colors of things at the site, but then, Jeeves was terribly conservative about these things. I think it's nice that men can wear pink and lavender these days :)

Ah, the check suit. Yes, probably not Bertie's finest sartorial hour. However, the outfit he wears to Ditteridge Hall in the first episode of the series (the grey pants, white shirt, rust vest and check coat...guh) is a splendid example of him at his best. I do so love that outfit.

Hee. The alpine hat wasn't bad, and I was rather fond of the "gangsterish" one as well. I still want heliotrope pajamas for myself.

Only pictures? Tragic, that! The DVDs are a tad expensive, but well worth it. Hope you can get ahold of them soon :)

I think we only see the heliotrope pajamas once in the series. But they were certainly mentioned often enough in the books. They sound fab.

Ah, you did indeed miss something very important! This particular rendition of Phileas is from the Sci-Fi Channel series The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, which, despite my initial expectations, was quite a fun little show. Although it didn't deal with the plot of 80 Days, it did star Phileas Fogg (played by the extremely pretty Michael Praed) and his valet Passepartout. They gave him a cousin, Rebecca (shown in another of my icons), and together with Jules they used the dirigible Aurora to save the world on a regular basis.

The show was very quirky, and injected plenty of Jules Verne trivia and such into the episodes. Alas, it only lasted a season.

Praed's version of Phileas is my favorite, ever. He's very complex, very intense, and for all his faults manages to be a hero and care very deeply about his family and friends. Also one hell of a dapper dresser, and wonderfully adept with a fencing sword.

You're welcome! I love to pimp this show. If you get the Sci-Fi Channel, keep an eye out. They replay it sometimes, mostly late a night.
