Speculation post.

Where would you see Bertie and Jeeves in the future? Canonically speaking *cough*. I just mean, can you envision Bertie ever getting married? Things like that. Little toddler Woosters running around? Or would he be indeed as Jeeves claims "not the marrying type" and happily live in his London flat for the rest of his life under the care of Jeeves?

He doesn't seem to like to have his employers be married, because usually the case is that the wife kicks the valet out, and he rather enjoys the posish he is in now. Or at least that's what I thought when I took off the pink goggles.

There might be some lovely girl out there who doesn't want to get rid of Jeeves at all. Don't you think that might change the way Jeeves looks on the entire thing?

I think, setting slash aside, the most probable reason he doesn't want Bertie married is that he'd lose his complete control of his meal ticket. The only way he'd let Bertie get married was if he could find a fluffhead of a girl who was just as happy to let Jeeves run her life, and she didn't want children.

Oh dear, two of them, could you imagine.

Of course, even if the girl didn't want children, Bertie still would, probably, even after the fiasco at the girls' school and all the trouble he had with the boy Edmund, and that little American theatre kid.

I have to admit that one of the reasons why I was curious about people's answers is because I wanted to see if anyone could envision Bertie with children. (Direct inspiration being that I just watched the first episode of the fourth season where Bertie's being all chummy with that little kid and almost burst an ovary.)

Oh, (barring slash alternatives) I think Bertie will never stop holding out hope that there may be a woman out there who's perfect. He's so sweet, he can't help falling in love.

Re children... he hasn't had much luck with children, but, again, his sweet nature keeps him hoping. I think the series plays that up more than the stories.

I think I may have mentioned that I harbor a secret hope to someday write a fic where Bertie and Jeeves adopt a young relative of Jeeves's.

You mean the episode at the American sea side where they kidnap a kid(against Jeeves' wishes) so his friend can ‘find it’ and get the girl who is supposedly related to da babey?? Bertie is all exited about having a baby(toddler actually) in the house! He gives him a pot of hunny to quite the kid down, and the brags to his friend how good he is with children!!! Jeeves, unfortunately, is also a little clueless about children, and treats the child like a clever dog - he "trains it" to say something(not saying what, its a spoiler) using sweets as rewards, and when he holds it, he does so stiffly, as is it where a heavy boxy or a slightly smelly dog. @_@ rolls eyes....

*L* Yes, that episode, but there's traces of it in the book as well.

Jeeves frequently sees little children as means of getting something done and "things easily trained" to suit his purpose. Bertie would probably just coo over them and generally adore them as long as they didn't create too much of a fuss (which would then be delegated to Jeeves again, poor chap.)

I work at a toddler nursery so the age group of the little blighter -errm, I mean adorable little boy -was immediately apparent to me.
