(I feel really rotten cut-n-pasting to any Fry/Laurie/Jooster communities like this, but a. I'm in a hurry, and b. It's not actually spam, IMO. Could be wrong, but there you are.)
About a month ago, I started a job at a pretty large ezine as their web editor. We've been working on a books-by-e-mail section, which basically consists of us loading up public domain books on our website and making them available to read directly through the site or via ezine subscription.
Well, I was put in charge of loading up the majority of the books. That meant choosing them. Well, I put up a lot of things I had to read in college because I was feeling a bit daunted by way of loading 150+ books including the entire Challoner revision of the Bible ... and then I thought, 'Hello! a lot of the J&W stories are in the public domain! Why don't we try putting those up?' So I ended up doing two so far: Right Ho, Jeeves and My Man Jeeves.
I don't know as anyone else in the office - seeing as the only other person who'd even heard of them was one of our ad reps - thought they'd do that well. But they seem to be slowly crawling up there. And I figured, too, that a lot of fans who haven't had the chance to read some of the books would appreciate the chance.
So, there it is. The main section is here, and I've linked to the individual books above. Let's show the blokes at my office that these were rather a good idea!
Oh, and it's free. ^_^

Date: 2005-12-09 04:27 am (UTC)"It is true that in the past I have sometimes seen fit to seek Jeeves's
advice. It is possible that in the future I may seek it again. But I
claim the right to have a pop at these problems, as they arise, in
person, without having everybody behave as if Jeeves was the only onion
in the hash. I sometimes feel that Jeeves, though admittedly not
unsuccessful in the past, has been lucky rather than gifted."
"Have you and Jeeves had a row?"
"Nothing of the kind."
"You seem to have it in for him."
"Not at all."
And yet I must admit that there was a modicum of truth in what she said.
I had been feeling pretty austere about the man all day, and I'll tell
you why.
You remember that he caught that 12.45 train with the luggage, while I
remained on in order to keep a luncheon engagement. Well, just before I
started out to the tryst, I was pottering about the flat, and suddenly--I
don't know what put the suspicion into my head, possibly the fellow's
manner had been furtive--something seemed to whisper to me to go and have
a look in the wardrobe.
And it was as I had suspected. There was the mess-jacket still on its
hanger. The hound hadn't packed it.

Does that not SCREAM lovers quarrel to you??? and doesn't it tickle you pink that even Aunt Dahlia treats it as such?? I mean, come on. Imagine this conversation between Aunt and nephew, replacing Jeeves with a wife/girlfriend/lover. not that one needs to play the replacement game to see that... stark obvious. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

"How do you know? Have you seen her?"
"No, but I'll bet she is."
"She doesn't look it."
"Wearing the mask, no doubt. Jeeves does that when I assert my
authority."
squee.
