This is great:

an annual cricket match between the Sherlock Holmes Society and the P.G. Wodehouse society

The Wodehousians won, which is not surprising, since Wodehouse's descriptions of cricket actually make me wish I were in a cricket-playing country.

Trust me, you don't. Nothing wrecks the nerves like a game that goes on for *days*. you didn't want to be in england in summer, really you didn't. Whole nation going up to strangers and going 'argh, help, cannot cope!' with fingernails bitten to the quick.

I just can't stop thinking of Life, the Universe, and Everything (That's the third Hitchhiker's Guide book, if you don't know), where apparently cricket is the Earthling representation of a (literally) universal collective unconcious memory of a horrible galaxy-wide massacre. And Belgium is the worst curse-word in the universe. Earthlings are slow like that.
