ext_442164: Colourful balloons (stock: standing in sunshine)

I'm sure many people have asked this question, so I apologise if it's something you get on a seni-frequent basis, but what colour is Bertie's hair? I seem to recall his eyes being described as blue a couple of times in the books, but I've been reading a lot of fics where Bertie has blond hair, and I wondered if that was canon or fanon.

Come to think of it, is Jeeves's hair and eye colouring described anywhere?

On an entirely unrelated note, does anyone else get the urge to say things like 'bally' and '(dis)posish' IRL after watching one too many eps of the TV show? ;)

I feel the desire to greet everyone with a hearty, "What ho!" after I watch an episode :D

I don't think that Bertie is ever explicitly described in terms of hair or eye colors, while Jeeves was once described as a "tall, dark, respectful Johnny," so we can at least figure he has dark hair.

(and yes, yes I do...)

I manage to restrain myself from slang that's actually of the time, but I do shorten words, like 'sitch.'

most of my dad's 70s penguins have a light-haired Bertie. (though he's normally quite chubby too and wearing a monocle)

I don't remember Bertie's hair color being described in any of the stories but I definitely picture Hugh!Bertie.
and yes I do get the urge to say things like that. :)

I've signed emails with "Tüdelü" (I'm German) all my life, and I don't even know where I got it from, but after getting into these books, I'm starting to feel awkward about it...

I generally say Jeeves has black hair because of it being dark in the books and dark on Stephen Fry. And yes, people have made fun of my honky ass for this because most white people who have 'black' hair really just have a very dark brown, but I find that going into it breaks the flow of prose just a bit. XD

A lot of people give Jeeves blue eyes because Fry has them, but I tend to go dark to match the hair and because I have a thing for dark eyes. My headcanon Jeeves actually looks a wee bit Mediterranean, just because he seems to canonically tan well on his holidays.

And my Bertie is a blonde with blue eyes because of Hugh Laurie and ingenue traditions. That and the contrast with Jeeves is pretty.

The books say Bertie has blue eyes, but his hair color never comes up. Old illustrations (see icon) usually show Bertie with dark hair, but then they also often show him with a mustache and/or a monocle. :P Jeeves is "darkish", so I always took that to mean dark hair and possibly dark eyes.

And I'm all for introducing Wodehousian slang into everyday speech! :D
