Now THAT's a Crossover...
Nov. 5th, 2005 11:32 amOkay, so my first post here was going to be a fic, or at least a pre-fic begging for a beta. (prequel! With Jeeves POV for the start of "Jeeves Takes Charge"!)
And then, last night, I rewatched "The Great Muppet Caper" for what may well be the 753rd time, and in my very favorite scene, I noticed something I never had before. Without recapping the thing to death (because if you haven't seen this you really, really need to) Miss Piggy has broken into a posh house owned by a character played by John Cleese, and is attempting to impress Kermit by pretending she lives there. And when Cleese, carrying a poker, catches them hiding in a closet (seriously, words cannot express how funny this is) Piggy brushes out past him, saying, "Thank you, Jeeves. No time for cocktails."
Let's just all process that for a second. Miss Piggy reads Wodehouse.
And, since he doesn't get the reference, Kermit apparently doesn't. That almost surprises me more...except that maybe it's just his character that doesn't get it, and Kermit himself wrote that into the script.
The meta here is making me giddy. Or maybe that's the lack of oxygen from giggling.

"Der scherndy werndy merndy, carrots und onionsy. Der chicky! Der chicky gern in der put! Eergh!" *struggles to force a panicking, "bwock"ing Camilla-the-Chicken into a copper pot. "Ah! Chicky in der put. Und..."
"Nom d'un nom d'un nom! Who is this darn nutcase, who is using of my knives? Where is my poule en casserole? Do they think they can do this to Anatole? Is this jolly good? NO! Anatole will not stay to be waved in the face with live chickenses!"
