That's exactly the version I don't think my heart could take... *wimp* Thought, I do think he might try to sacrifice himself... this reminds me of a Titanic AU I saw for another fandom, in which one half a certain gay couple pulled a woman's hat out of nowhere and pushed it on his lover's head (who happened to be suitable feminine looking to pass in the confusion, I suppose).
