There's so much going on in this picture. They look so serious, as if they're the only two people in the world. They're outdoors which is a dangerous place for them to be together. The day is overcast, but the gray sky draws attention to the brilliance of the background shrubbery. The gripping hands tell a story all their own.

I love all of the tiny details, and the little blush on Bertie's cheek, barely noticeable, like it's cold outside and they've been out there talking awhile and he hasn't quite noticed the chill, or doesn't care. Lovely autumn sky and clothing details as well.

I simply love all of your drawings, but this one is definitely special in its own way.
I, um, I think somewhere in your previous posts I saw you mentioning how you sometimes weren't satisfied with the way their faces turned out, and, well, I hope that by presenting us with such pure beauty you're definitely throwing such uncertainities aside :) Their expressions are so amazing and suggest such a number of interpretations :) Thank you for sharing your wonderful drawings yet again.

What I like most about this picture is, the first second you look at it, it doesn't seem very complicated. It looks like two men looking at each other. But then you slowly notice the placement of Bertie's glove (or at least I noticed it first because Jeeves' is darker and sort of blends in nicely with Bertie's clothing) and you see the autumn plumage in the background and you know their scarves should be done up more tightly, and so you get this weird charged feeling from it. You know either something very, very good is about to happen, or something very, very bad, and whatever it was they were talking about the moment before, it's very important and not at all simple.

Thanks! As for a backstory, not really. I wanted to do something with a focus on Jeeves's eyes, and the rest was built around that. No story in mind beyond just that they're having a private moment outdoors.
