What ho and whatnot!

The Jeeves And Wooster Around the World writing endeavour is coming along wonderfully; we're almost at 30,000 words and that's only five chapters. This will be a novel-length fic of epic proportions, which earns all those who've signed up huge cookies! *throws your way* There are just a few details I'm wondering about, for the final PDF file (though this is obviously a long time off). All co-authors (and interested spectators) are welcomed to voice their opinions!

1. The working title is "Jeeves and Wooster Around the World" - are you okay with this title, or if not, have you got any other suggestions? We'll have a poll if necessary ^^

2. As I compile the chapters into a document, I do not make alterations in the text - save minor spelling corrections. I've got my dictionary set on British English; does anyone object to this? The only real difference is that "traveling" becomes "travelling" and "favorite" becomes "favourite" etc. But don't hesitate to protest if this doesn't work for you!

3. Should we have the entire thing looked over by a beta in the end, or shall we content ourselves with each writer's individual beta-ing? I don't want to be a grammar Nazi, but if glaring errors occur at some point (they haven't yet, I think), they should obviously be straightened out for the readers' benefit.

4. Would anyone be interested in my uploading this to lulu.com in the end (self-publishing site), with a link only accessible for us indeedsir'ers? If so, should we opt for an affordable paperback or a slightly less affordable bound edition?

Well, um, I've ranted enough now, I think. All and any feedback would be appreciated! And keep up the good work, writers and readers alike ^^

The self publishing sounds pretty nifty. I don't mind UK beta.

1. Decent title!
2. I don't mind the British English setting.
3. Hmm. Very good question. I know many of the writers run their stuff through betas but at the same time betas miss stuff too. Undecided on this.
4. I think this would be great uploaded to lulu.com. I know that it can get expensive but it would be a fun option for those interested.

Paperback is good enough for me! And as for beta-ing, everything has looked fine so far. Still, it might not hurt to have someone look over the finished product.

"Jeeves and Wooster Around the World" sounds great, but so far we've been going with the "Educational Tour" thing. Either way is fine by me, but I had a thought. Some books will list two titles, like "Frankenstein Or, The Modern Prometheus." If we went with something like that, we could include both. Gah, I hope I'm making sense.

*ducks out*

UK English is probably the best for this, and I probably wouldn't mind having another beta look over it.

And SELF-PUBLISHING? YES PLEASE. Can we have [livejournal.com profile] ironicbees do a set of those greyscale inkwash illustrations for these (since I know that full color a la Jeeves and the Artistic Verisimilitude makes things way more expensive)? Just wondering.

THIS IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME.

Brit-picking is fine with me, as are any corrections for grammar and spelling. I don't mind having another beta look at it, but any significant corrections should be passed by the author before they're made.

I'd upload and make publishing an option. Some people will want to do that, I think.

1. i'd actually prefer "jeeves and wooster and the educational tour", but i'll go with what everybody else wants.

2. that's fine. i edit on british english, so i don't think you'll find much to change on mine.

3. mine's been beta'd a few times by three or four people, but i'm always open to another pair of eyes looking it over. any changes would have to be run by me first, though.

4. paperback would be fine with me. awesome, even. :D

a few people have mentioned illustrations, and i think that is a fabulous idea. i'd love to open this up to all the wonderful and talented artists we have in this comm, too. if any of them would like to do artwork for the book, it would only add to this being a community effort, including everyone. i hope some artists feel up to the challenge!

*bounces gleefully*

I'm still all excited about this and the lulu idea sounds BRILLIANT! Maybe get someone to read through once all the stories have been collated, just to check for any grammar blips?

oh, I'm loving the World Tour. And now I'm wishing I'd signed up for the Pacific Northwest bit, but I'm not all that confident in my Bertie-voice...

Still! I get to sit back with popcorn, and having it in paperback would be glorious. :D
