I've a question for you all -

What is your favorite J&W fic, and why? I'm curious.

My favorite is a short one that I'll repost here - I have no idea if the author is still around, or if the fic is even still on the web. Still, it's too good to pass up.

I've directly copied and pasted this from the .doc I saved - enjoy! I'd also wager that the rating is a PG-13 or R, so use your discretion.

Fashion Policeman
by Merripestin

Folded beneath his undervests were a pair of silky pyjamas in an perfectly unspeakable heliotrope.

Eyes sanely shut, he first gathered the garments to his face, then stroked them over his cheeks, chest, belly. Only a little of this, lest his own scent overwhelm that of their original owner.

Then, fabric draped across nose and mouth, he brought himself to climax with deft, sure, supremely capable hands.

Gone! I suspect yet another sacrifice to Jeeves' sartorial inflexibility. Distinctly odd arrangement of the phiz when he scooped them off the oriental the other morning. He thinks I don't notice these things.

Now, why did I like this? Because it's short, exquisitely written, and perfectly captures Jeeves and Bertie.

What's your favorite?

Oooh, this is a hard question because there are so many good ones to choose from. I think, as a general rule, I tend to appreciate fics that are well-plotted with good characterization and with an element of the unrequited about it--though with a happy ending. Smut is a bonus. Looking at the fics I have mem'd, I'd have to say [livejournal.com profile] triedunture's fics always make me happy, particularly Jeeves and the Club for Inverts and Round the World in a Goodish Bit of Time and I've been immensely enjoying [livejournal.com profile] thirstyrobot's series of fraglets. I also have a very soft spot in my heart for [livejournal.com profile] purplefluffycat's Jeeves and the Artistic Verisimilitude because it's one of the first fics I read in the fandom, and I absolutely love [livejournal.com profile] out_there's Jeeves and the Tennis Coach and Reggie and Wooster. These are the fics I find myself re-reading over and over again and scanning certain passages and moments that are my favorites. lol, so I guess this doesn't exactly answer your question, which really is that I can't pick just one and the ones I do love appeal to me for different reasons. ;)

*flail* I CAN'T PICK! *points to the comm.* Do you see the quality of writing here? How can one pick from all that wonderfulness!

I'm greedy. I like em all.

Ditto Chaoschick13. And Onedergirl29. Um. I tried to pick just one, in my head, and I had a blowout. Nope. There's just too many good'uns.

*wanders off in search of more owie-go-away pills*

NOTE: Not to say it's not a GREAT question! I like seeing what other folks say.

If I was forced at gunpoint to choose one, it would be "The Long Road." But my gosh, there are so many that I read over and over again. I love the variety of work in this fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie's fics are the best for hotness. but i have a certain fondness for [livejournal.com profile] triedunture's podfic of "jeeves and the monetary imbalance" because i'm a angst whore like that. i just wish there was a super hot sexy scene at the end. ;D

It depends the mood of the day what I think best but here is some of my favourite ones (not in any particular order)

1:Anything by Lucylou is on top of my list, like Jeeves in the Glove Boutique: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3265106/1/Jeeves_in_the_Glove_Boutique (her all other fics are found at ff.net too)

2.Huble servant. I love it: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/971006/1/Humble_Servant

3.This: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3382153/1/Jeeves_Has_His_Way

4.Woffproff has also many good ones, like the baby bird and the Beauty of Labour

5.Then there is the one with the new soap and its effects (I will link when I get back at my own computer)

6.And triedunture has too many good fics to count.

Hmm, looks like all of this are good smut/fluff...
(sorry, I had no time now to use the cute links and such)

One favourite is impossible to pick, should be a top10, at least. Half of mine would probably be taken up by [livejournal.com profile] triedunture.

Well, I think my favourites are Jeeves and the Tennis Coach by out_there, Jeeves and the Tenets of Spinoza by Timmerryn, skyblue_reverie's series (all fics from The Matter... to Birthday Gift) and also her Yes, Jeeves, Sir, The Long Road and Letter for Letter by triedunture, Jeeves and the Psychologist by LucyLou, Jeeves and the Artistic Verisimilitude by purplefluffycat and Fippy Elbows In by Helena Handbasket.
And of course there are so many more totally enjoyable stories in this cosy fandom :-)

I absolutely love the Artistic Verisimilitude by purplefluffycat. Because it reads like actual Wodehouse and has all the fun and interesting side characters. It's also really funny and in character (I'm thinking of Bertie's fear of being done in by some cured meat). The smut is also very good.

Anything by SkyBlueReverie is really good and triedunture and storyfan and thirstyrobot's fraglets. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, but Artistic Verisimilitude is really (for me) the jewel in this comm's superb writing. (Sorry I don't know how to do the link things.)

I actually heard Empress read podfic before I actually saw the series and read the books. So her readings of The Rum Situation With Rocky and The Matter of Mr Wooster's Headaches were my first encounter with the fandom, and thus my nostalgic favourites ^^

But as for quality, I just can't decide. There's too much tastiness out there ^^

I'm an absolute rotter for remembering things I read, literature, fan fic, cereal ingredients, you name it, but I think the one that will stick in my head for a while is triedunture's Jeeves and the Female Doubles. Absolutely loved that one.

The one with the new soap is Jeeves and the Oriental Dreams, by [livejournal.com profile] florida_belle and it is indeed a keeper. That's why it's on my hard drive, but it's linked from her page.

As always, I can never go past Timmeryn/Rahball/whoever's series, currently at The Blue Page (http://pantheon.comicgenesis.com/other.html). The first of these stories was only my second Jooster and the whole series is still the best. There is some pretty good original fiction, too. I like Carlton.

The wonderful Dear Sir, by [livejournal.com profile] lucylou is probably linked from her page, I shouldn't wonder, but of course, it was once posted here.

A sneaky favourite is Bertie Gets a Clue, by [livejournal.com profile] ennui_blue_lite. I believe I can track it down because I saved the webpage to my hard drive (and backed it up, as I hope you did too), so the links are still active provided I am online at the time. I clicked on the search engine at While we tell of Yuletide Treasure (http://yuletidetreasure.org/) and got a rather messy page, but at least there is a search engine there. Besides, you may get so distracted by this page that you may forget why you came.

There are so many wonderful stories, including just about anything [livejournal.com profile] thirstyrobot writes as well, but these are some that stand out. And don't forget the famous Cornette's Twelve Pager (what does that mean, anyway?) by Careena, which used to be on Slash Cotillion, and the adorable comic of this fic by [livejournal.com profile] lucylou. I wouldn't be surprised if a quick Google didn't bring up this story.

And the best of them all

I am a fool - I forgot to mention Green Ice, by Adina! This extraordinary piece of work could as well be on your library's shelves as a fan story. It is remarkable. It crosses over with Dorothy Sayers' Peter Wimsey series. There is a short sequel and another short story in the same universe. If you are new and haven't read this, don't miss it.
