One, anyone want to beta for me? I'm finally sucking up the old smutnazi pride and giving in to a beta...seeing as first person is easily the hardest tense for me to write, and combined with the Wodehouse style, it's damn near impossible to get a decently written fic out that doesn't have it's fair share of glaring errors. It's one thing when writing a third-person character sketch of sorts one-shot which is what 80% of my other fic is, it's another to branch out and suddenly find yourself in a fandom with actual mature people who aren't afraid to point out errors and don't just simply write "MOAR" without caring about the little things in life like grammar. (And as a stupid yank, who grew up with the "whole language" phenomenon who never was actually taught more than noun=object, verb=action and adjective=description, I'm rather pitiful at grammar. I've learned more grammar studying French than I ever did studying English.)

Please? Pretty please with sugar on top? If only for the once-over on grammar.

Also, anyone interested in a very dark, angsty, Hemingway-styled piece? (Dealing with how Bertie and Jeeves have changed since WWII, told from the POV of an original narrator.) it's a lot darker than most of what i've seen here, and since it breaks from the Wodehouse style so drastically, I figured i'd gauge interest before posting it up.

May I have an estimate of how much work is involved please. For example; how many chapters would need to be done at once, how frequently would a new chapter or chapters arrive on my desk and approximately how long the are the chapters are likely to be.

I suppose I second aalens. I'll think about it, smutnazi. I am horribly lazy and flaky, so I don't know if I should. I'm a little hazy on grammar- I feel as though I know bad grammar when I see it, but it's not based on any actual lesson I received, just a gut feeling. I have a terrible habit of typing 'you're' instead of 'your' lately, though I know perfectly well what the difference is.I DO know when it's 'whom', that's my one claim.

One thing I can do for you, if you like, is to trawl through anything you've written and point out anything that might be an Americanism, and what the probably British equivilant would be. I'm not an Americanism nazi, and wouldn't want you to think that I'm snobby about it, but being a former English person (by which I mean, I haven't lived there for 8 years but I think I've still got the basic grasp of the differences) I can probably be useful to you there if you think you might need it. If you'd like that kind of help, I'd be only too happy.

Curious about your post WW2 piece - I'm working on one myself, though it's not a first person narrative. Bertie and Jeeves have their separate experiences then meet up again for a big old angst-fest. Ooh, I do love my angst. Funny you're working on a war piece as well. I've got the basic scenario down and now I'm just bringing it to its conclusion, so I can promise to look at yours without 'borrowing' ideas. :)

I'd do it if I had any sense whatsoever for grammar and such. Be it as it is, I'm just here to shout my approval of the darker J&W fic. :D

I'm always interested in dark fics! That's just my emo side getting out, though.

I can do a grammar-beta if you need one. If I may be permitted to blow my own horn, I'm awesome at grammar issues. ('Tis part and parcel of being a Latin TA.) I probably can't help much with the Wodehouse style, though; I'm fairly new to it myself.

Oh, and I love dark fics so I'm all for an angsty post-WWII fic.
