Etymological euphoria
Aug. 6th, 2008 04:52 pmWell, I marched over to the used bookstore the other day and came home with, among other things, A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English from the Fifteenth Century to the Present Day (where the present day is something like 1961). Althought it was no Wodehouse and it doesn't fit in any of my remaining shelf space (somewhat in the negative these days), it's the most exciting thing I've picked up since Psmith in the City! It is, in fact, chock full of all the delightfully whacking phrases that our man Bertie so loves to toss about.
As I am so engrossed in looking at it that I can't seem to get any work done on my next tale, I'd like to at least share a sample of happiness with you all:
( encore des mots, toujours des mots )
P.S. I'll take requests for other words!
