Hello, everyone! I took my time joining up here, having lurked for a long time, because I really can’t write, and don’t know what I can contribute, apart from singing the praises of the wonderful authors. I had forgotten about slash for a long time, and now I’m obsessed with J/W. Look what you’ve done to me! ;-)

I adore this avatar that I found while browsing, but can't remember where it got it from. If someone would tell me how one credits an avatar (you call them icons) I would be grateful, as I find the LiveJournal interface user-unfriendly. I will have to work on learning it.

Special mention to The Blue Page, Timmeryn I believe is the nom de net, almost my first Jooster! And among the best. And to mechanicaljewel (where is that sequel to Drones Buzzing around the Workers? Pretty please with a codebook on top?), lucylou, Han, ink-n-imp and all things piratical and purplefluffycat’s heavenly beautiful kittycat avatar. Not to mention purplefluffycat’s heavenly stories. And the hysterical ‘badfic’ critique by ennui_blue_lite. I don’t find badfics amusing, and it if wasn’t skyblue_reverie I wouldn’t have read it, and I would have missed this. Best line, ‘Or what? You’ll sir me to death?’ I nearly stopped breathing! I had to go to the kitchen to recover.

I am really enjoying looking through the archives and through the older pages of this group. It’s fun. When I first read about the mooted vampire stories I immediately thought of vampire Jeeves grimly coming to mortal Bertie’s rescue. Now why did that thought pop into my mind? ;-) I love Han’s vampire Bertie, can we have more, please? It seemed to just stop. The chapter about a newly-seduced Jeeves filled with joy and wonder was the most romantic thing I have ever read in this archive. So sweet and tender!

After reading about the TV series, I rather thought that Stephen Fry would be inclined to ham it up and enjoy himself, and so it proved when I endured the rigours of dial-up to watch some excerpts on YouTube. Still, I must admit that bringing such books as these to the screen could have fallen flat, and I don’t think the two main parts could have been better cast. These two are up to it, without a doubt. Does Hugh remind anyone else faintly of Siddig el Fadil? But I didn’t think much of the casting of the other characters, from what little I’ve been able to see. Having found region-free software that actually works (DVDIdle Pro and similar – Google for it), I finally bought a Region 2 set of the DVDs. I have never seen overlapping DVDs before, and it was a couple of days before I could get the things out of their case! Only to find that having finished episode 1, the first DVD won’t work anymore, though the others seem all right. This is the second time this has happened to me. The other failed first DVD was in a 4-disc boxed set. :-( I don’t know if it’s just the DVDs, as I buy few, or if I need a new DVD-ROM drive. I need to research this, it’s getting expensive.

Oh, speaking of Stephen Fry, when another Stephen walked into the office a few weeks ago, I felt bewildered. I thought surely that can’t be Stephen Fry, he isn’t in Australia and if he was, he wouldn’t be in our office. Stephen caught me staring, I’m afraid, and gave me a pleasant hello and slight wave. I think he’s used to it. ;-) But I will tell you that it was quite spooky! He’s a big man, too. Very tall, slightly overweight and in about the right age group.

Did anyone see Stephen appear on Michael Parkinson’s show? If not, I wish you had, I had no idea he was so handsome or had such a pleasant voice. So different from his Jeeves persona – very different indeed. I suppose his biggest fans have bought the Harry Potter talking books just because he reads them? ;-)

Thoughts on episode 1 – I loved the moose! But I’m puzzled at the twins. I thought they were schoolboys, and I thought Bertie was the last male Wooster bearing that name. Did I miss something? That horrible Minnie the Moocher! Argh! Spare me! LOL. Oh, how I wish I could watch episode 2 etc.

Thoughts on the books – it’s my belief that Aunt Agatha was forced into an arranged marriage and is embittered because of it. Otherwise, why would she want to force her nephew into the misery of a loveless marriage? And why is Aunt Dahlia never seen with her? She must be her sister or possibly sister-in-law and know how she treats Bertie, but doesn’t have anything to say about it. Perhaps this is because the stories are exaggerated parodies, not meant to be analysed or taken seriously.

Lifted from My Man Jeeves, which I am currently reading thanks to Project Gutenberg:

‘Of course, I know it's as bad as being henpecked; but then Jeeves is always right. You've got to consider that, you know. What?’

Siiiigghhh.

Can someone tell me what in the world does O RLY mean, and why is it supposed to be funny? I’m still in the dark.

What a lengthy delurk, much longer than I intended. I hope I haven’t bored readers to tears and frightened them off, LOL. But I’m pleased to be here now I have finally made up my mind to it. I will try not to be so verbose next time. It’s just that I have been lurking for so long that I ended up with lots to say.
