I just have to share....
Today I was dodging assignments by watching the first Jeeves and Wooster ep. My father, who hasn't read the books and has only witnessed the odd snippet of eps (when he walks by while I'm playing them), stopped and had a giggle at hungover!Bertie's antics. Then, out of the blue, "So, are they partners?"
Me, thinking comedy-duo type stuff, "Partners how?"
"Y'know, life-partners."
Me: *blink* - explains that Wodehouse probably wouldn't have meant it that way (the whole asexuality thing) but that, yeah, some people thought of them that way... and that they are pretty married-couple-y by the end of the series. Dad Ah's, grins slightly and wanders off.
My dad is not generally one to pick up on something like that, let alone in something he's barely familiar with.
