Hello all -- lurker and newish Wodehouse fan checking in, with a request for a cite.

I'm trying to find the original source for where Stephen Fry said, "A sort of Jooster. 'Why take two Wodehouse characters into the shower when you can just Jooster and go?'" (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] innocentsmith for providing the quote.) Any leads would be helpful.

(This is in relation to someone asking Hugh Laurie about House/Wilson on "Inside the Actor's Studio" last night. I'm hoping to make a point to a friend who was somewhat appalled by the question even coming up at all. XD)

Thanks!

Splendid to meet you OLD HORSE!

Well, but some characterws have already been in the shower together, you have to share a shower in boarding school. Still welcome, I'm the resident bag lady. Have fun, read slash, enjoy the lovely fan art. And ignore me, I'm a pest.

I do have the entire quote, but not the source at the moment. However, both he and Hugh wrote Wodehouse articles so I'm thinking that it came from that. Of, course, I can find Hugh's but not Stephen's. Hopefully someone will have it.

Also - If she's appalled over H/W, you should show her any number of the A Bit Of Fry & Laurie sketches in which they mention sleeping together. Or, The Crystal Cube because, well, *points to icon*. ^_____^

I'm certainly not adroit, efficient, neat, quiet on my feet and respectful like Jeeves. On the other hand, I do tend to remember quotations and regurgitate facts like him. I attempt the sunniness of disposition of Bertie Wooster, but can't achieve thesame altruism and sweetness of nature. A mongrel hybrid of both, I suppose. A sort of Jooster. Why take two Wodehouse characters into the shower, when you can simply Jooster And Go?

Hm, yeah, I'd second the vote of showing her some "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" eps. Or just letting her know that Hugh Laurie has a Looong history of playing around with queer implications. He wouldn't be offended by the reporter asking that question. Didn't he bring it up himself a couple of days ago in a different interview?

Hm, yeah, I'm note sure what the show was (it was abreviated as 'NOTA' - [livejournal.com profile] peak_in_darien, what is that?), but here's the quote:

Interviewer: "So it's been said that the show isn't going to go into any particular pairing, because they want to keep the interest of all the viewers. True?"

Hugh Laurie: "Right now? The most plausible is probably House and Wilson..."

Interviewer: "..."

Hugh Laurie: "We'll probably have to make out or something."

Robert Sean Leonard: "I wouldn't mind."
