Oh, they are definitely fun and stylish, and in keeping with the general tone of the story. I'm just cranky about the character design.
The sameyness of the female characters annoys me a lot. Skidmore had a bit of that problem as well (although that's about the extent of their similarities as illustrators).
As for Jeeves, I don't so much mind severe and old(ish). *shrug* That's kind of how I imagined him as well until I became hep to the revelation that is Stephen Fry. I'd say there are at least subtle hints in canon that he's supposed to be a bit older than Bertie, although he certainly doesn't seem to have been elderly.
But this Jeeves is just so . . . goofy! Even Mills' Angry!Jeeves exudes more quiet dignity than this guy.
